Once again, You made an amazing video, and inspire the rest of us to be like you. Since I first started watching your videos, you inspired me to do skydiving myself, and today I only need 40 more skydives until I can start wingsuiting myself. Thanks, and keep it up, man!

Do you need a lincence or a permit to start doing basejumping/wingsuit or like experience, certain number of skydiving or how does it work?
@seewhyaneyesee4 жыл бұрын
Alan DeLaRosa You do not need a “license” to BASE jump but learning skydiving is a must because it teaches you a lot. Manufacturers used to sell BASE rigs to anybody who ordered them and that resulted in a lot of deaths, so now they only sell their products to you after you have verified that you are a licensed skydiver. License basically means completing courses in the skydiving environment, having a number of jumps under your belt and now you can jump solo without any instructors holding you during the freefall. To be honest it should have not been about number of jumps either because having 200 jumps without any malfunctions may not adequately prepare you for malfunctions as opposed to having 100 jumps and experiencing a number of malfunctions so you have learned to stay calm and execute techniques to save yourself. Wing suiting, in the skydiving environment is opened up after you have completed at least 200 normal jumps which may not be enough to most people. Zipping a wingsuit and jumping off the plane sounds awesome and whatnot but the risk of dying or badly injuring self is ever present. It is definitely not easier than it looks and you have to be fit and have strong endurance to fly the suit to its maximum potential. I am not speaking with experience as I have not even skydived yet, the only closest to free falling I have been in is bungee jumping, it is so fun haha but yeah, Wingsuits are relatively unstable and a simple mistake can and may lead to a flatspin which can be very dangerous... all in all its just My wise research.
@seewhyaneyesee4 жыл бұрын
Alan DeLaRosa maybe you have not noticed the arms position at times during the jumps where their arm wing goes backwards and above the shoulders which makes you dive down so you fall faster but also gain huge amounts of forward speed... and when the arms are flat at shoulder level that means they are flying flat to clear a long flat line or for whatever reason so you fall less but also the forward speed is reduced which can be dangerous if done incorrectly as that can lead to stalling the wingsuit, interesting stuff. Also during deployment at the end when they pull their parachute they need to arch their knees like in a skydive without any suits where the part of the legs below the knees are facing up and that is also for a reason but i won’t say why ;) not exactly sure either but something to do with burble influencing the canopy’s deployment.

Such a sick video man! You have inspired me to become someone like you when i'm older. At school im obsessed with wingsuit flying. I tell everyone that its what i want to do when i am older and dream about it every second of the day. In every case my friends and family have shut me down and said that i need focus harder on other things and they make fun of me for it. But also laugh when i say it and say its a stupid idea. You know today everyone expects and society expects that you have to get a normal job when your older and earn money and focus on your school grades because it will effect you for the rest of your life and other utter bullshit like that. They just cant understand that i have an internal amount of passion for this way of life. Every spare second of time i have i spend researching about BASE jumping. I just want to say a big thank you to people like you, Jeb Corlis, Jokke Sommer ect because you follow your dreams and dont give a shit about what others think about what you do. Keep up the awsome lines and one day we'll fly together. Thank u so much inspiring me and Btw its my 16th Bday tomorrow so only 2 years in-till i can fly! Thanks for reading this (if u do) and fly safe man! Many thanks Freddie :)

Thanks for the love Freddie!! I coudln't thank you enough for writing me and letting me know. Its truly makes my day to hear you've been inspired. Nothing beats inspiring others, and I feel truly honored! Just make sure you stick to what makes YOU happy and you'll never go wrong. listening to others is the worst thing for most people. Just do you Freddie cause it sounds like you have the perfect mentality already about it. Happy Birthday! Pumped for you on only having 2 more years before you can skydive. Thats AWESOME!! Let me know how it goes when you do jump, and I definitely look forward to doing a jump with you one day :)

Hi Ray, I have not had to pull early and land on a mountain side due to safety issues. A few people have had to do it in the past, but hopefully through lots of research, training, and planning that can be mitigated. Toilet paper is a must sometimes! haha :)

Two canopies and jumping from a heli; can you still call this BASE?
@bmikesell237 жыл бұрын
We don't necessarily call this just BASE. Most people consider this Helibase. Which I take as jumping from a helicopter (skydive) mixed in with a BASE canopy and wingsuit terrain flight (BASE). You are definitely right in saying this is not technically BASE. That's why in my opinion the term Helibase is more of an appropriate term that some people choose to use.
@Setarkos917 жыл бұрын
I didn't want to complain. As long as you have fun, anything goes ;) Was mainly surprised to see skydiving rigs... Edit: Just saw your explanation on another comment, makes sense.

No worries at all! I definitely didn't see it as complaining. Its just another way for us to discuss some things that others might be thinking too. So, thank you for bringing that up so others can have that question answered too. You are right, as long as we are having fun, anything goes :)

Thanks Shawn, glad you enjoyed the lines! The term Helibase is something some of us use to categorize these types of flights. Just another term for an activity that might be between two different categories.
