Hey Rick great job on the course I'm very happy to support you and definitely get my moneys worth. I see a lot of potential for other useful modules that would address other typical issues for new pilots such as hiring and networking or training procedures. just curious if we can expect to see more great things for the website as it has so much potential to be a central hub for pilots in training to get all the answers they need. Also I suggest checking out Puma X flight simulator, in my opinion its the best all in one (cyclic,collective,anti-tourque) package for a good price and I think it would be a good suggestion on your site. anyways keep up the great work and I hope to fly with you again this summer !
@PilotTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Hey Evan! Im glad you like the course and I hope you get to utilize many of the tips to hep you save!! I took a look at the Puma X and its one hell of a piece of training gear however I think the $1500 price tag is way out of reach for many who are looking to start flight training! Would be cool to fly a sim with it though. I like your thoughts and there is definitely alot of potential for the website its just my time is limited between work, KZbin and the website hahah. I do as much as I can to help you guys so if you have any suggestions for video topics put them in an email to me at rick@pilotteacher.com and ill look into them.

@@PilotTeacher Ya definitely a pricey option. Not sure what my situation will be when I start training but hopefully it will be similar to your experience of working in the hangar(AME) and flying every other weekend. Having an ideal setup to keep that muscle memory in between sounds like it will pay off in the end by being more efficient in the cockpit by being prepared for the lesson :)

Absolutely amazing and informative video 🔥 By the way what’s the deal with working in ramp is it like when vacancy comes they kinda select one of the fresh student pilots working in ramp or something
@PilotTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nixon! Working the ramp or ground is a way for a company to hire a low-time pilot and put them to work in a role supporting the pilots and/or business. This gives the employer a chance to see the persons attitude, personality and work ethic before giving them the chance to get flying. Its a great way to weed out the lazy and undetermined but I know some companies can take advantage of the cheap labor and keep pilots working for years on the ground.

I wonder how much avgas prices will rise in the US and how much that will affect the price of flight school. I am reconsidering starting soon.

I am just starting flight school and *so far* they aren't looking to change their prices.

Hi Martin, I feel your anxiety! With gas prices going up its only a matter of time before Avgas goes up. By how much nobody knows! I recommend you have a look at my new course on how you can save serious money on your flight training. This should help lessen the rising gas price! Check it out at pilotteacher.com

Hi Rick. Just a quick question. What are your thoughts on the value of a college degree for getting heli pilot jobs ?
@PilotTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Hi Archie, I don’t know a sinlge helicopter pilot that got a degree to become a pilot. They may have had one from a previous career but not for flying. Some airlines require them to fly FW but RW its rare. This might help: pilotteacher.com/do-all-pilots-need-a-college-degree-it-depends/

Make sure have about 250k in funds before you start. Certainly fixed wing UK is about £120k for fixed wing airline, can double for helicopter.
@PilotTeacher2 жыл бұрын
You have been talking to the wrong people! I don’t know anyone completing a CPL and IFR in the UK costing anywhere near that much!!!
@flybobbie14492 жыл бұрын
@@PilotTeacher Years ago there was demand for all commercial cpl to have a instrument rating following some crashes. It was fought against by the helicopter association as being too costly. Checking US sites i am surprised how cheap the costs are. If i had known earlier in life i would have been a helicopter instructor. They seem to earn four times fixed wing instructor wage for the same or less out lay.
@flybobbie14492 жыл бұрын
Helicopter UK has always been twice the cost of fixed wing. Back in the early 90's our fixed wing was £80 hour and R22 £150 hour. Jet ranger was £500 hour.
@PilotTeacher2 жыл бұрын
@@flybobbie1449 yes its true pilots are leaving the industry at an alarming rate. Sick of poor wages and schedules. A distinct lack of experienced pilots is really being seen now and the industry only has its self to blame!

@@flybobbie1449 yeah when I did my PPLH in the UK back in 2004 it was around 240quid/hr for the R22. Nothing in aviation is cheap hahaha

Meanwhile a senior captain the the majors makes 3x or 4x that salary. Go fixed wing!

Sure the money is great in fixed wing but god its boring sitting on a plane for 4 hours especially if your wingman has the personality of a sloth!
