The same thing happened here, last fall, when the atmospheric river flooded the Nicola River. Highway 8 is still being rebuilt. Jon in rural BC, Canada

I have often wondered. . .why build the road so close to the river?. . .like how about an acre or two away. . .seems like it might not be as bad in this kind of situation. . .idk just curious I guess. . .sorry for all the damage though. . .hope nobody got hurt

The geography in the park is such that roads cannot be built "an acre or two away".

Looks like that new road to Tower?

This is the road just inside the park from Gardiner, I think. So that’s probably Gardiner River

wow. most of the park going to be closed for a while.
@vickimeyers26722 жыл бұрын
The entire park will be closed for at least a year and possibly longer. There's been significant damage to the roads and bridges throughout the park.

@@vickimeyers2672 they will be opening the South loop later this month! However the North loop will be closed indefinitely for now

You'all are going to need some substantial "bend away weirs" out of massive boulders embedded in that streambed to protect the rebuilt highway in the future. The high flow meander is eating your infrastructure because it is self amplifying ...

Can’t agree more, they need to pay more attention to rivers and damage control
