It's a very GOOD thing that he called for HELP. Dehydration is nothing to ignore at all. (+ We all need to trust in Jesus as our Savior for the remission of our sins, we never know when our time in this world is over. Jesus is the only way to the Father.

Spoken like someone who hasn't a clue about dying from dehydration.

dude, getting a heli rescue just because you are dehydrated???? that is seriously a massive waste of resources and the rescue crews time!! what the heck, that is so insanely rediculous. the hiker should have either just sat down and waited for another hiker to come along (its the PCT, there are tons of hikers on trail right now) and asked for water, or just kept walking until he got to some water. I hope that he has to pay for the rescue, because it was 100% non emergency.

I have to disagree - even minor dehydration can quickly turn into a major medical emergency and result in death relatively quickly deadening on the conditions. If the guy either waited for another hiker or continued hiking, he could have started to have a decreased consciousness level which could lead to him randomly walking off trail, falling, and then becoming a missing person. This could have led to a much greater emergency that would have cost exponentially more. Granted, he should have brought more water with him, but it is bad to hesitate calling emergency services when you feel that you are in danger.

Apparently he could barely walk and was really beyond 'just wait for someone to give you water'

Disagree - dehydration is very real. It can take hold of you super fast. Altitude adds to the dire situation. Only the victim knows how bad he was affected at the time and it is good that he made the call.
