@@canyonrunner331 you’re probably not going to learn how to hover from the sim alone. It’s good, but there is nothing like the real aircraft. You will benefit the most from cockpit familiarization. I was a helicopter spray pilot for a couple years...if you're curious a proper spray turn is done without pedals. Here is a right turn for example. 1. finish your line and start a cyclic climb while dropping collective (keeping your speed above 30 knots) 2. continue the cyclic climb and when then helicopter begins to turn by itself pull pitch and the helicopter will spin on its axis while maintaining air speed (it will look like a drag car drifting when done right) 3. drop collective to stop the spin while keeping enough power on to stop from slamming into the ground 4. stick forward to get up to your application speed (usually around 80 knots) and use pedals and cyclic now for big corrections if you're way off. When done properly you will be right on your next line with very little corrections needed. in real life you're also advancing your line on your GPS while in the turn and making sure you boom on and off at the right times

I have a question: I flew Model helicopters all my life and consider the behavior of MSFS mind-boggling: In forward flight I have to keep the cyclic pitch pushed forward all the time - which i think is unrealistc. In reality, the collective stick input represents only the angular velocity of this helicopter axis - no matter the speed of the helicopter. So for going from hover into forward flight you push the stick slightly forward until ein angle auf let's say 15 degrees are met. Then bringing the stick back into natural Position (or else the angle increases till flipping over). With this slight angle, the helicopter then doesn't stop accelerating while the Stick stays in neutral Position. One has to add collective while ganing speed and has to even pull back a little when Topspeed Is met. Can you you explain this? Greetings
@Belatu425 күн бұрын
@ I’ve only flown RC helicopters a little, so I don’t have a lot of experience with them, but in the full scale version, you have to hold the cyclic forward in cruise. The disk wants to pitch up from ETL and you have to push the cyclic against it. It also wants to roll at speed because of the disparity of the speed of the advancing/retreating blades and you have to hold cyclic against that as well. I’m not sure of the physics on why some of the same phenomena don’t affect smaller scale models. I’m sure it has something to do with mass and inertia…
@nothingfreeanymore5 күн бұрын
@@Belatu42 Interesting - because it's not like the helicopters hangs on a rope... But maybe in flight the forward going half circle sucks the air downwards, so that the backward half circle gets a downwind when it passes Position so has less lift?...

The FAA cares more about direct hardware function when certifying Flight Training Devices. It’s never been about the flight modeling. It’s always been about the systems. I have been blown away with the helicopters in this one, I refused to buy any more helicopers in 2020 because they all were terrible because the sim simply could not do it, you had to go with the one developer with its own external FM, and they where great... not even HPG managed to get their helicopters to behave and feel good. But now in 2024 really feels proper...smooth fluid inputs and you dont feel like things are fighting you or not responding, it does what you expect... I had some issues with headtracking and what not but the helicopters them selfs was great. R66 just sounds so good, worth if for that alone, that blade slap is amazing! H125 is really nice as well, and this is just the beginning, cant wait till H145 and H160 and all that get set up for this new sim properly... and all the Cowansim models and the Aoulette III, Llama and all that... exciting times! @@Belatu42 Thanks for the feedback, I actually use the TM Warthog stick and throttle quadrant which has been good for me over the years primarily flying helicopters in DCS and to a much less degree in MSFS. Hope that one day the flight models MSFS achieve the same level of refinement as the DCS modules but I suspect it may be a long time coming. Thanks also for explaining the way the Robinson throttle works which now makes a bit more sense. I have submitted a ticket to the MSFS support forum regarding the trim problem and hopefully they will be able to shed some light on that because flying without functioning trim for me is a little tedious. Heading off to check out some more of your vids..

@@badenbr1 do you have the spring removed and use an extension for helicopters with the TH Warthog? That would be close to a 1:1 throw and you really wouldn’t need trim. In the real thing trim alleviates the force pushing against you, it doesn’t move the stick back to the center. That’s a purely sim thing. I put the FMs of the top 3 on par with my real world experience. DCS, XP12 and now MSFS24

@@Belatu42 I replaced the stock spring with a lighter after market option and have no extension which I have used for years and suits me. It had been fine for the DCS modules I fly which are primarily the Gazelle, Kiowa, Apache and Huey. I use the trim set feature in those aircraft to set the cyclic and sometimes anti torque to a comfortable position depending on the flight regime I am in at the time and it certainly makes it easier. I found that rotor trim does work in other MSFS choppers and have been spending a bit of time in the Bell 407 but hopefully at some time in the not too distant future they will sort out the Squirrel at which point I will jump back in. Nice to hear that all the noted titles give a reasonable approximation of real world flight. Thanks

Msfs24 is super realistic! You wait hours and hours and wait for hours and then it cancels your flight and you go to bed having never gotten past the loading screen. I’ve yet to fly. So glad I got it on game pass and didn’t pay for this BS

Thanks for the review. Don't know what to think -- reviews and subjective experiences are all over the place. Sounds like if it works, it's awesome, but many if not most can't get it to work very well if at all.

The Cowansim 500E had suspension animation in 2020, I haven't checked it in '24 yet. The free OH6A mod by Tobsen and Eightball for DCS does it the best though. Probably the best simulated helicopter out there at the moment.

@@Belatu42 I went to try it out again after seeing your comment. Hm, IDK. Feels real slippery to me, like trying to take off from a lake of ice. Didn't really feel the suspension either. And feels SUPER wobbly to me too, much more so than the real thing. The real thing is very sensitive but not particularly wobbly. So overall I can't say I'm a huge fan of this model. Got the Buttkicker by the way -- I concur with your assessment -- it's fantastic!

Good vid. But personally having a terrible time with it still haven’t been able to fly in 2024. Day 3 off running the gauntlet of 97% bug, then if i get to the menu everything seems ok till you click fly know and just loads things in and out, I’ve left it doing this a far few times over an hour. This is on a top notch system with over 1000mbs fibre connection. To myself it’s been a massive failure and makes 2020 look 100%stable / reliable in comparison. I hope it improves but definitely showing the serious issues of a streamed service. I have zero clue why they don’t give an option to pre download the part / world for those who can or don’t mind a slower load in. Also the fact offline its not usable?, I struggle to sympathise with msf they should of sorted the servers due they should of been aware of the demand from pre orders alone and the fact they should of been aware of how critical the servers are. It seems like one part of the community seem to be using it ok, the others having massive issues, its day 3 and still effectively not working personally my patience is running thin. I’d rate this as not ready for release. Don’t get me wrong i was fully expecting issues on day one. But for a AAA rated title its shocking if this carry’s on to day 7 i will demand a refund a return to x-plane and 2020. To myself this is a product still in Alpha or Bata stage. I think also if they stagerd the release over a week to gradually build and stress the servers that may of improved it a bit.

Much better helicopters in fs2020…in fs2024 helicopters are a nightmare..no way to trim cyclic and horrible to fly..will keep fs2020 and DCS (i am a real comercial helicopter pilot with almost 3000 flying hours and have flown 3 helicopter types, actually H135 and i have to say fs2024 is horrible, much easier to fly the real one, if you are looking for a realistic one..keep fs2020 and DCS, regards!

@@VipiModel-nk3ce they’re improving, but a couple of major bugs are causing issues. You can trim the R66 and G2, but not the H125. Have you tried the OH6A for DCS? It’s currently my favorite heli in any sim!
