That's when it's fun. I got a private license in 1983 in the Hughes 269. Then got to fly the same thing in primary training in U.S. Army flight school. They were TH-55, but the 269 Hughes. Most fun ever. Then transition to UH-1, and all the Army stuff. Most of us used our Army training at the end of flight school, to the commercial pilot test for rotor wing, and had instrument add on since we had all the Army's records. Still, nothing was the same as a simple Huges 269. Those were funny to fly. I really enjoyed the video. Thank you, brought back memories ❤

@Some Other Dude , I did not think it was so loud. I've had motorcycles pass me that were much , much louder. Some trucks also. But noise aside, it simply is not safe to be flying so close to houses. Mr. Kent, thank you for uploading this video of your flight. As a "fan" of the helicopter, I can say that I enjoyed seeing everything that you did. Back in the late '50's through early '60's, I watched a series called "Whirlybirds" religiously. I have always wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter. I wish that O could win the lottery, then I would purchase a helicycle and take flying lessons. I think it would be neat to park it at the home and fly to where ever ya needed to go and land the helicycle in the parking lot out of the way of vehicles, etc. Hope you upload some more vids of your flights 😀.

My helicycle flew GREAT. I enjoyed it Ver much until I sprained my ankle. The doctor put an ankle brace on it. Several weeks later I went to the airport to fly it. I got ready to take off. Carefully used my feet to neutralize the tail rotor and relaxed my foot muscles to take off. As I did that the ankle support, without me feeling it, moved through right tail rotator control pedal a tiny bit. As I lifted off, the copter suddenly went into a right, fast spin. It happened so quickly I had no time to realize what was causing it. Altitude, Air Speed And Hanger Door, coincided. Did not get hurt but I no longer had a HELICYCLE. WOW did ever miss it!!,

For all those wondering: You can get a Mosquito Ultralight Helicopter like this one factory built for literally 40,000$. You can also buy a kit to build one of these for only 30,000$ if that's more your thing. The cheapest one flies at like 70mph if I recall, they run off normal fuel (like diesel), and because they are "Ultralight" helicopters, as long as you don't fly above the clouds, over a dense city, or near an airport, you don't have to call in for clearance. You could legally use it to fly around your area as long as you don't live in the city. Also you don't need a license (but I would strongly recommend it lol)
@nicholasnarverud77769 жыл бұрын
This is their website: mosquito-helicopter.info
@dead_p1xl9649 жыл бұрын
+Nicholas Narverud This is a Helicycle, not a Mosquito. It's a full-classification turbine helicopter. You absolutely need a license, as their smallest model is *double* the Ultralight FAR103 weight limit at 500lbs. As far as the Mosquito helis, the only ones that are FAR103 legal are the Air (no canopy or surrounding panels) or the XEL which gets an extra 60 lbs to the limit from being amphibious (it has inflatable pontoons). The XET turbine model still requires a license.
@teknicalmusic1169 жыл бұрын
+DEAD_P1XL That's correct. The mosquito air does not require a license. One interesting possibility though, is to buy an air, get really good and then take the minimum hours for a rotary wing PPL and handily pass the flight test (since you actually have much more flight experience). The savings in rental hours would probably pay for the mosquito air and you have something to show for it. Of course, you need to prosecute your self education on the air with all the seriousness and rigor that regular flight training would demand.

A lot of people are just jealous because they are ass holes. They hate to see anyone having more fun than they are. He should be sitting in front of the idiot box watching Dennis the Menace. this is no more disturbing than a stupid dog barking at nothing all day and night or the neighbor mowing the lawn, or his son trying to fix his stupid Harley junk all day long by revving the throttle. I personally would enjoy seeing this guy taking off and flying away. I wouldn't mind having one myself. I know it's fun to fly anything. The end! Gee, I screwed up, not one word about politics. :O(

I am with you. If these flights are not that frequent, I guess I could tolerate it. Some people however have to work nights and their quiet property rights should be respected. The only reasonable sounds that should leave someone's yard might be a lawn mower, leaf blower, a dog barking once in a while, but not excessively. I am not sure if someone's personal helicopter is reasonable, but maybe? I have never heard it. Reasonable people respect others. Maybe the neighbors are good with it? If so a big thumbs up. Here's a related story: I once worked rotating shifts, sometimes going to bed at 7 AM. I would wear earplugs and blinders. I knew how to cope with working nights. I had a neighbor's kid, (a rather fat one) next door fire up his two stroke, chambered exhaust dirt bike next door as soon as his parents left for work every morning. It was like clockwork. Since I worked opposite shifts from his parents I could never see them in person. I left a polite note in their mailbox and that had no effect. I left a phone message on their phone asking politely if the bike could stay garaged until at least at least noon. Nope no effect. Do you have any idea what that bike sounded like at 8 AM, speeding in their yard, going over makeshift jumps round and round for hours? That fat kid should have been pedaling a BMX Bike instead. The County Sherriff said "Sorry but you live in an unincorporated area." "They can do what they want on their property," and never became involved. I finally resorted to repeated 3 AM phone calls, (while from work) not speaking, but only making motorcycle noises. I never identified myself on the letter, phone message or noise calls. After that the noise subsided briefly, but only when the motorcycle actually ceased to function did the early morning noise stop. Notice I just used the word "ceased." It's part of the word "deceased." The fat kid eventually bought a Honda Fourstroke with a muffler. That machine functioned without any problems until the muffler was removed and modified. And then it "ceased" to function also. I cannot imagine how that kept happening? All I can say is the statute of limitations ran out on those actions >35 years ago. I did regularly get some proper sleep after that. I turned that negative situation for me, into solid entertainment. It only took a few late night Ninja operations to silence those machines forever. It was also hilarious to watch that fat kid to try to kick start those bikes over and over never knowing the true cause... If you are out there fat little Bobby, now you know.

At first I was wondering what neighborhood would that be legal, then I recognize it was my neighborhood and you flew over my house at Wingfield Springs Way to go bro ...
@rty19556 жыл бұрын
I am assuming it not legal at all. It is extremely dangerous to operate any aircraft in a confined residential area. You cant land a helicopter anywhere you feel like it. You need to get a variance from the town in which it is being operated in. As helicopters are allowed to fly at any altitude, You should fly by the good neighbor rule. This guy flys way to low over houses and I bet with enough complaints about him, he will be forced to relocate his helicopter outside of the residential area and be told not to fly below a certain altitude in a residential area. That thing makes a lot of noise
@haydendewey56246 жыл бұрын
JACK4576 where is that at?
@rty19555 жыл бұрын
@CommieBash and what happens when a small pebble gets thrown and hits a child in the eye or damages someones property? Or a rotor blade should come off and fly into a house killing people. I agree we all have the right to freedom, but your freedom should not come at my expense. The rules are there for a reason. If you had a huge farm with nonone around you for a mile you might have a point, but in a housing development it is not wise to do this inless a waiver is granted by each resident.
