From the Glareshield and MIP Flood Lighting, through to panel backlighting and auxiliary lights. This video sees myself redo some of the previously installed wirings for a much thicker wire gauge to help with the voltage drop and current handling capabilities of the installation. This part was really fun to create and brings the cockpit up to a whole new level.
The plans are available at WWW.737DIYSIM.COM.

You should've installed the lights upside down, and with a bit of a gap, then a pre-diffuser in the rear - something reflective but not like a mirror, something to diffuse a bit.. then the diffuser cover on the front to get rid of the individual light points which are visible...

Super video as usual. You managed to make it look like a continuous light strip and even expensive finished fixed base sims seldom has that! Very inspirational to see the way you connect, so tidy, and for instance the ability to easily disconnect the "overheads" :) I see you're able to get 5 or 6 displays running from one computer. I am not able to do that when using FSX and my computer has 8 outputs total from 2 video cards. I manage to serve 4 displays but the 5th display makes havoc if connected. I read somewhere that FSX can only use 4 displays max. Wonder if it's true. Did you ever encounter such a problem?
@helimech8152

Hello Robroy, great to hear from you. Thank you for the kind words. I haven't heard about being limited to four screens with FSX, but that is definitely starting to show its age now. Hace you tried moving to P3d but it might be worth waiting until FS2020 now!

Have you considered or made a weight calculation for your buil? . My far out plan is to make a 6dof and I am constantly aware of the material i use. Looking at your build, which look great and for some parts you use heavy hård wood.

I'm not a pilot but I have worked on the ramp, I used to play around with the light show on 737 200's when ever I got the chance, they are pretty cool. Watching this video brought it all back. I bet the Max is missing the no smoking switch though. Or is it?

Everybody loves to play hangar pilot! I'm not sure about the max. I have not done much research on it. I thought the No smoking sign was a regulatory and mandatory thing on all commercial transport. But it's been a long time since I also looked at those regs. Kind Regards Karl

Hello, I have only been in one 737 cockpit and that was while I was taking it apart for certain components. I didn't really have time to do much or the tooling as it was being scrapped while I was there. Still it makes for great memories. Most of the dimensions and photos came from people who do work full time on them! Kind regards Karl

Hi, I just discovered your channel and I congratulate you for the GREAT job you do and for SHARING WITH US ALL THIS WORK! One thing that I don't quite understand (on other cockpits too): how does the light pass through the different elements of the cockpit? Panels seem to be built in Medium-density fiberboard (MDF)? Or are they rather in white plexiglass (which one ?), painted in grey Boeing color and engraved? But even engraved, is this enough to let light through only where there are letters? Thank you in advance for your help !
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 4 жыл бұрын
The liteflow panels are created from white perspex, usually a 3 mm back plate, and a 5mm faceplate. Panted grey then laser or cnc engraved.

Hello my friend. Please tell me what material you made the MCP panel from?
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 4 жыл бұрын
Hello from Brunei, Which MCP do you mean? The DIY MCP was made from MDF wood. But i wouldn't really recommend that. It was just for show purposes. The correct material to use for all panels is Acrylic. The back panel is usually 3mm thick and the front panel is 5mm thick. I would suggest white opaque in colour too. Kind Regards Karl.

Simply stunning Karl. I've just started making my way through your all of your KZbin channel. The wiring, connectors and power distribution are art alone. My two-thirds built spaghetti Pedestal is in line now for an up-grade! What would you say was the most common wire size you use, outwith any heavier distribution runs?

Hi D G, Sorry for the late response. I use 24AWG as standard between the ardunio and any panel. The 12V and 5v power rails utilise 16AWG.
