It has been said, and I do believe that true audiophiles close their eyes when they listen and perceive the music from within. You used a photo that invokes a visual perception of this orchestration based on the title. It has a luminous and spacial sound, and the photo enhanced my overall interpretation and enjoyment thereof. Bravo!

Thank you so much! i was pleased with how this single image worked with this music. Often that relationship is less effective. Helios (the sun) was all that was necessary. The music came equally easily to me... and i am fond of it, too. Please know your comment is very meaning to me and very much appreciated! - phil

Indeed, the first audience of a work must be the composer itself, which means we must also become our best critics; however, only after creativity strikes, which must lead the way; also that technology opens new doors of expression. I found this work engaging, often with dark colors and thick textures, deep bass lines, with occasional "angel" voices rising (also loved the pizzicato section around minute 5!), all extremely appropriate for these contrasting times. Bests, A.

Angelo, Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. I agree totally about composers being the 'first audience'. Your observation and phrase 'first audience' puts it more succinctly than my descriptions and sums up perfectly what i was trying to say. This piece flowed so effortlessly from some region in my mind. (i like the pizzicato section, too). The origin of this piece stems from the word 'helios' which i had to look up after it somehow emerged in my mind. After that i started with strings upon which i layered in voice and woodwinds etc. I don't recall any revisions to my initial instincts - which were based on hearing the need for colors as the piece flowed forward. Technology enables one to hear while during the act of composing - which greatly accellerates the creative process. Your visits here are always so highly valued! - phil. -
