Literally saved my life. I was watching other videos and all of the guys were using keyboards. On top of that they were using instrument tracks and not automation. One thing I noticed is that instrument tracks can do CC but cannot do Program changes (Needed it to control a Bugera Trirec Infinium). When you showed here the automation track it immediately gave the options for program and specific control changes after that I already put in when I configure the device as you showed. I added them under the track and wham! I had my values and I just input them just how you showed and it worked. This is the only video that is specific to a rig like this for guitars and especially out of a DAW. Thank you so much for the video.

Enjoyed the previous videos ..thanks...Wondering if it’s easy to synchronise Studio One with Helix Rack / Floor Control whilst recording, or is it necessary?? Thanks😴✅✅✅✅✅

Hello Christian - well done and thank you. A lot of work writing and recording the tune..plus this video. I am a Logic Studio and Helix user and I use MIDI Control Change values (CC69 0-7 for Snapshot changes 1-8) to make my snapshot changes. What is the benefit of using Velocity-values instead of simple CC changes? For example I would have used CC69, value '01' for snapshot 2.... CC69 value '00' for snapshot 1. Maybe your method is better...I'm curious! Thanks.

Quick question. I use 1 Bass and 1 Guitar with the Helix Rack. Top chain is the Bass, the chain below it is the Guitar. How do I automate BOTH chains?

Great video, is this also possible with the Helix Native within the DAW Studio One? I have v5.4 which also has a Show feature, Have you tried this?

Hi, thanks for the video. If you have more than one song do you use the same project template or its based on individual song? Taking note of the different tempos for each song. Tx

Thank You! Very good information. I wonder if the same can be done with Helix Native as well. So all the MIDI signals ride over the single USB connection? Also, if so do you need to use the USB for recording or can you use another audio interface that is connected via the XLR connection and then the MIDI will ride over the USB and the audio over the XLR? Also, the manual shows that the Snapshot CC# is 69 like you showed, but the values are listed as 0-7. Are the numbers you have shown specific to your DAW? Or should be the same regardless of the DAW? Will have to see how LogicPro handles that. Thanks Again! On another note, Line6 shows some humor in that section of the Manual. CC#128 Values 0-63 = Oh and 64-127 = Nooo. Function is "Helix achieves self-awareness and starts poking fun of that face you make during the solo." LOL

Is it possible for one computer or DAW program to automate the changes for multiple devices, in particular multiple helixes (mine, my other guitarists, and our bassist's)? I would assume this has something to do with creating different external midi tracks assigned to different channels. Is this what the MIDI base channel selection is for in global settings?
@ChristianArnoldMusic5 жыл бұрын
It can definitely do that through midi. I don’t know how to do it. But it can be done.

Hey Chris, thanks for the info, it is very useful :) Have you ever tried this automation for live shows? Do you have to setup something else for such situations?

Do you have to make all channels active or can the Helix specify which channel it wishes to receive from the PC?
@ChristianArnoldMusic6 жыл бұрын
I believe you can specific which channels you want.

Christian Arnold that's good because I have a bunch of external gear for my DAW to run alongside the helix. Does it need to be CC69?
@ChristianArnoldMusic6 жыл бұрын
Yeah because that’s the CC # for snapshots.

You can use the Helix to control your daw. You can assign the footswitches to keyboard commands from the Command Center. Select a switch and then scroll the command option to Hotkey then select the Modifiers and/or Keystroke.

Studio one is terrible for doing this . This stupid numbers for snapshots instead of 0-7 is bloody ridiculous and it works only half the time on my helix
