Is it possible to use the pen clip with the extender bar?

yes the pen attachment can be swapped on its arm and the extension bar replaces/extends the compass point...see www.samiramian.uk/equipment for details

How did you attach the extension arm to the compass? There aren't any instructions.

You have to undo the top thumbscrew on the side with existing compass point, and then push the screw through and out, completely removing the existing blue piece. You then replace it with the extension arm fitting, push the screw back through, and re-tighten the thumbscrew. It's fiddly!
