Lvl 10 MG here. It's vital to have a semi-strategic mindset. You have to predict the flanking movements. It's absolutely a flank defending role and should be used to ambush. Should be looking at the map like 4 times a minute, like an SL. Like you also said, you must quickly assess the terrain and pinpoint the likely avenues of approach, the setup ambushes on those routes. Ambushes should, like you said, hit the enemy in their flank, at angles that give you cover and concealment, but gives the enemy has no C&C in your chosen killzone. Lol, and, like you also said, MG is preferably used at range. The only thing I disagree on is not giving away your position unless kills are likely. Many times, because of the ambush mindset and if your positioning is good, an enemy that at first is far off with obstacles blocking the a likely kill, will maneuver themselves into your killzone. And many times, a second or third target will appear not long after, and then when they think they are safe and alone, you open up and take all of them. The only time I shoot to keep heads down is on offense, covering friendly advances. But I usually play defensive since most people have no clue how to, or think about, defense in Warfare. So maybe a future video discussing small differences in offensive vs defensive MG.
@SoulSniperYT2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. You have to make some educated guesses in the fly, have patience, and keep an eye on how the battle is playing out. 👍 Good stuff man!
@SoulSniperYT2 жыл бұрын
I think what I was trying to say is that the element of surprise is very effective for the initial ambush. Not that you shouldn't fire unless you're likely to get a kill. In fact, when I spoke about smoke I recommended firing into smokescreens even though you can't see anything. But yea, there are differences in strategy depending on whether you're attacking or defending.
@mypizzaisburnt79042 жыл бұрын
This is a fantastic comment!! Offensive vs. Defense MG is quite different. I love both. (: On defense, MG can be the savior + on-the-ground leader for the squad so SL (esp. inexperienced ones) can coordinate with command etc. and learn since MG is thinking about potential approaches, etc. On offense, gotta be a bit more careful so as not to suppress enemy position before squad is ready, thus giving away position.

It's worth noting, never underestimate the suppression power of hip firing whilst moving up with your squad/team. I've had some good success almost leading an assault by laying down suppressive fire on the move. 8:40 I've actually developed a fairly effective squad tactic for clearing houses and such . If an enemy holds a stair way I usually run outside and hip spray through the nearest window provided it's close enough to the guy holding them, this works in most cases allowing for a team mate to get a grenade off. Although it does take a good mag of ammo, it's not often a problem as I always ensure I have someone in the squad as support. Similar methods for clearing corners in urban area can work well provided you can have your squad providing accurate fire while you maintain suppressing hip fire going around corners. It takes good timing and competence but a good squad can achieve alot of things.

Great video! I have recently started using a lot of the tactics you suggest and it definitely works! On maps like Hurtgen Forest, I keep my engagement distance at least 300 meters - this has the added benefit of keeping you at a safe distance and also eliminates a lot of the concealment foliage the enemy would have if they were closer. It is difficult to tell if you are scoring hits at that range, but I am always surprised by the number of kills at the end of the match.

Not always, but if you end up in a game with a vocal and directed sl and the MG is talking, you can certainly work together. I've had quite a few moments where I was or our MG was telling me when he could fire and I was letting him know when I wanted to move so he could suppress

A good strategy in a desperate defence situation is teaming up with a 2nd MG, if you can funnel the attacking team into one area by having both MG player fairly close to each other and covering a wider area or covering both flanks it will give your riflemen support in the fact they can concentrate on the blind spot between both MG nests and allow a counter attack to push forward and create a new line of defence. Also, if you have managed to pin point an area of high enemy activity, 1 MG begin to fire and as they run low on their ammo belt the other takes over to allow for the 1st to reload, this will allow a continued suppression on the enemy preventing any breakthroughs

Always SAFESOC 1. Security is always first! Have a buddy if you are breaking from the rest of your team. 2. Automatic weapons on Avenues of approach! Aiming down the path enemy is likely to take is crucial! 3. Fields of Fire! Establish clear fields of Fire to avoid friendly fire and to make sure your friendlies cover your blind zones. 4. Entrenchment doesn’t apply but you can think of it as taking proper cover instead of laying in the open. 5. Supplementary positions! Know where you are falling back when shit hits the fan or sniper lands his shots close to your position. 6. obstacles! Engineers are your best friends! Have them utilize wiring and other obstacles to tunnel enemy movement directly into your field of fire! 7. Camouflage doesn’t really apply but try to avoid sky lining and standing at man height in the open field.

I looked thus video up since I just played a game on Omaha as the Germans, and I definitely messed up using this class (I am new to the game). I understood a big aspect of the machine gunner is suppressive fire, but was getting frustrated at hearing other machine guns going off while I sat in a barn waiting for Americans to cross a field that they never did. However, I will say a major problem I was experiencing was the lack of marking and communication by my squad. I’d ask where people are, and I’d get a quiet response, but otherwise silence (my teammates weren’t even talking to each other). As such, I found it quite frustrating to play this position both as someone new and someone who had no communication as to where the enemy was.

Just play it and have fun. Same with other roles. And if you don't know what to do; ask. There are plenty of veteran players around, people are usually more than happy to pass on advice. When I first picked up SL, I told the squad I didn't know what I was doing and then I had 3 people telling me how to do the role effectively and they praised me at the end of the game. Gave me confidence to pick it up again and again and again until I got to a point where I'm not bad anymore. Not good at SL. But I'm not bad. So yeah. Just play mg, engineer and all the other classes and then ask for advice. That's the best advice I can give you lol.

Never go somewhere alone if u want to stay alive unless u have to be sneaky and take down a garisson or outpost also it's more fun to talk with ur partners even if they are not in the same squad

Machine guns are done well in Hell let loose compared to other games. They use a bullet that can critical wound someone in 1 -2 shots at a high fire rate but stays balanve by being bulky and only accurate stationary or on a bipod while heavily suppress someone's sight and aim.

the biggest problem i had with it is finding a suitable position thats how i ended my fire round as an mg with a kd of 0.09

I find MG to be one of the most map dependent roles. Trying to play MG on SMDM for example is frustrating because it's all open fields and hedgerows with minimal places to mount the MG. Compare it to playing MG on a map like Carentan and it's a different experience. SMDM? Grab a rifle. Carentan? Stalingrad? MG go brrrrrt!
@Willing_Herold6 ай бұрын
@@SoulSniperYTI agree very much so.The mg is very important for disrupting enemy offensives and defensives but your not going to get very far without supportive teammates or suitable maps

@@SoulSniperYT I've only been playing for a couple days, after going through most of the roles I think machine gunner is mine. I only did the Lee Roy Jenkins bit because we must have been 30 people rushing an objective, but I gathered I senses and hunkered down in a good vantage point and threw down suppressive fire for team to keep pushing. This game is fantastic, can't believe I slept on it for so long.

So this is why I’m such a terrible machinegunner: I move too much, I’m always at the front of the advance, and I’m not patient enough to just deploy my gun and wait for the enemy to come. I always get domed while trying to deploy my MG, or shortly thereafter.
@SoulSniperYT2 жыл бұрын
Playing MG while attacking is a different play style than defending. And in my opinion, more challenging. You wanna focus more on providing covering fire for your buddies to advance their position. Once they've gained ground, follow them up and set up again. Rinse and repeat. But as I stressed in the video, positioning is super important when playing MG. Don't set up in obvious places the enemy will be expecting you. Maximize your sightlines while making the enemy sightlines to you as small as possible.

The machine gun effectiveness metric has nothing to do with kills or point targets (people), it is an area target weapon (sector of fire). If you're using it you should be shooting at areas in your line of sight, not necessarily specific people. The effect that it has on an enemy is to paralyze them if they're attacking/maneuvering on you and to put their head down if you're attacking them.

Dont pop the first thing that moves. Let the first and second dude advance a little (if possible), then open up Bro aim down sites and put the smallest of black dots on your screen with a sharpie, itll wipe off the next time you clean your screen.

Nothing more fun in this game than playing sniper+MG+ shotty buddies. Just three people can wreck a team. Sniper to find the enemy, MG to engage, Sniper continues to call enemies and fires at people looking for and firing at the MG, all while the shotty gets about twenty meters left or right from us, ABSOLUTELY HIDDEN TO THE ENEMY, catching any enemies attempting to flank us. Absolutely murderous.

Remeber I sat in one house behind enemy lines for around 32 minutes, had 67 kills, FIND A HOUSE/FIND A WINDOW, you’ll have more kills then you’ll know what to do with Edit: also constantly switch points of fire, go to a different window or bush, makes you look like a squad and can really effect the enemy on how they’ll approach you
