On July 31st, 2022 around 5:30am, 19-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla intentionally accelerated her Toyota Camry at full throttle into the Plidco Building in Strongsville, Ohio. The high-speed crash killed her 20-year-old boyfriend Dominic Russo and his 19-year-old friend Davion Flanagan, who was a backseat passenger. Security video showed Shirilla's vehicle rapidly accelerating down the street and slamming into the brick building without any attempt to brake.
Subscribe for more Law&Crime: bit.ly/LawAndC...
Prosecutors argued this was an intentional act meant to end Shirilla's tumultuous relationship with Russo. A forensic mechanic testified that the car's data recorder showed the accelerator pedal pressed to 100% with no braking in the moments before impact. In June 2024, Shirilla was convicted of 12 counts including murder and sentenced to two consecutive 15 years to life prison terms by Judge Nancy Russo, who stated Shirilla's actions were "controlled, methodical, deliberate, intentional and purposeful" on a "mission of death and destruction."

@@Terrance-uz8rh Parents are not held responsible in a court of law for anything their kids do as adults. But outside of that, in the upbringings of a kid, their parents play an important role. The mother’s demeanor let everybody understand her daughter actions after act of violence happened. The girl was more preoccupied of pursuing a modeling career than facing the consequences of her actions and the mom was just trying to excuse her daughter behaviors and actions. The mother didn’t give any importance to one of the victims because “ he was a new friend and her daughter didn’t know him well “. I hope she can’t sleep at night knowing she raised a monster.

Wow! This story hits HARD for me! I'm adopted, we all were (4 of us) my older brother, who was my #1 fan my whole life (I was his too) was minding his own business on his motorcycle at a red light. An underage girl driving over 100 mph just plain RAN HIM OVER & showed no remorse throughout the entire court proceedings which took about 13-14 months. I remember getting up there &attempting to read my "Impact statement" 1 of the hardest things ever to have to go thru! She ONLY got 4yrs for killing my brother! I'm seriously praying for the victims families in this tragedy. My heart goes out more than they know. If it weren't for God, I wouldn't have ever made it!

The mother's reply/comment to Vitaly at minute mark 7:40 on behalf of her daughter so wildly astonishing. Reading this and hearing the mothers statements, and the fathers statements really do give insight as to how Makenzie was raised and why she is the way she is. I know the parents dont understand why others are recognizing this as a problem, and that too, in and of itself, is also part of the problem. Excusing her and not holding her accountable is not helping their daughter, it HAS harmed her, and will continue to harm her, and because if this, she has harmed others. This really is a tragic case. It’s not up to the lawyer. It’s always always gonna be the clients decision. Their job is to be their attorney and fight for their choice in what they want to do. If it worked as tho lawyers could decide how to proceed. #1 falsely accused would be screwed bc most will want to take a plea and take the easy way out. But more importantly there would be tons and tons of appeals bc lawyers made the choice for their client. We’re in America. Home of the free. Which means that we as American citizens has rights that should never be violated no matter what we’re accused of doing. That’s why justice for someone like this girl is so important. She made a choice and should now suffer the consequences of her actions. She will only get out in 15yrs if she dramatically grows up and turns it around. Otherwise parol board won’t let her out. 😊

@@lilm6259 all that is true but she committed two pre meditated murders which is what makes this sentence so despicable a man would've gotten consecutive life sentences plus extra time for the other 10 charges. i bet if someone had the balls to investigate this judge they would find she has a history of bias for women. she is a despicable human being she basically let this girl off the hook for one of those two murders.

@@danielcorreard3746 But with a jury, she might have swayed one or two of them to believe her “I didn’t MEAN to kill them; it was an ACCIDENT” story, with her sad, little girlish face and teary-eyed demeanor, and end up with a hung jury. Orbeing convicted on lesser charges, such as two counts of manslaughter, which could have resulted in a shorter sentence.

Asking for mercy for her psychotic daughter while the other families have NOTHING to beg sympathy for other than a life sentence. The audacity! She'll be out in minimum 20. At that point, the families will need to band together to beg that she isn't released. This is all so sad

This is truly a picture of what privilege, narcissistism and selfishness looks like. The internet and social media also plays a part in removing the soul of person. Her mother is the epitome of an enabler. Her daughter is product of her parenting. I hope she is treated as "commonly" as possible in prison. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

That mother is beyond disgusting. Not only did she continue to allude to a "the crash", or a "tragedy that happened" - as if it were somehow an act of God rather than a pre-meditated deliberate act, but she persisted, at least twice, in referring to this "accident". Quite clearly, she refuses to acknowledge either her daughter's actions or her guilt, presumably to try and absolve herself from the need to confront the fact that she nurtured such a callous, narcissistic, arguably borderline-psychopathic child.
