@@cameronmac8928 You absolutely missed the complexity of their relationship, the Native American subplot and the idea of powerful groups taking what isn’t theirs from the less powerful out of greed, and why Marcus’ grief and attachment to the case that killed his partner, who he did genuinely care about, was so intense. It is incredibly obvious how hurt Alberto was by his racist comments, no matter how much he tried to go tit for tat with Marcus with his own quips which, as Brandon noticed, were much, much more good natured. Marcus noticed too how much he was hurting Alberto, which is why he constantly tried to stubbornly rationalize it. Such as in the quote i mentioned. Go rewatch the movie, not just this reaction to it, and stop being as stubborn as Marcus.
@eeveegee6663 жыл бұрын
This is such an incredibly subtle but powerful observation in this film, it honestly is what broke me. So many of us rationalize our roughness or edginess to the point of forgoing courtesy, but it's not our rugged determination to be yourself regardless of what others feel that gives life it's meaning, it's your relationships. Relationships made up of lots of little moments that strengthen the bond. And that at the end of the day, most everything comes down to the little things, as Hank Scorpio said, you can't do much about the little things, it's the little things that make up life. Thanks for posting @Ryan
@cameronmac89283 жыл бұрын
@@Ryllas01 I fundamentally disagree with your hypothesis. It is evident that the native American aspect runs through the film and respectively through the jibes, and although his remarks were clearly having a negative effect on their relationship I truly believe that Alberto knew they were friends despite this. Marcus is ignorant of the past and I in no way condone what he says but I can clearly tell that however hurtful and ignorant his remarks are, they are fundamentally meant in jest... thus I stand by my statement

I am a Canadian Métis, my mother is Cree and my old man is a bunch of European stuff. People talk about representation in media and Indians have been portrayed poorly, if at all. It was nice hearing about the Native experience to the South. It’s an important part of history and it needs to be shared. Thomas King is a celebrated Native author from Canada. His book “An Inconvenient Indian” discussed representation, and also discusses the tragic and brutal history of colonization in the North America’s. A tale of broken promises and broken treaties; things that continue happening to this day. Sorry 😂 if I got too serious. It’s just important to share our experiences and that book encapsulates a bit of my own. I just hope more people are able to read Thomas King’s wonderful work.
