Some video of Tim Camerons last buggy Hell Raiser and his newest buggy Showtime on the same hills so that you can see just how the different setups work.
Both of these buggies are running the LSX454 Small Block with Powerglide Transmission.

@andyfederman Thanks man, The biggest reason he went back to 1 tons is because Rockwells just don't climb as good as 1 tons. Yeah the Rockwells are stronger but you have to beat them a lot harder to make the trails!!

As someone who really understands the workin aspects of a 4x4 vehicle i can say I really appreciate the videos. Great quality and so much better than 99% of the garbage on youtube. the new rig is great just wondering why the switch back to 1tons from the top loading rockwell axles. I'm guessing since mr. cameron there can break any axle you put underneath him and he went with the 1 tons to get more power to the wheels? Thanks for the awesome vids.

@ktumbleweed You're absolutely right, the terrain is completely different than it is out here in the west, most people in the sierras crawl because there are huge rocks and slabs of granite, pretty much equivalent to street tires on pavement, so throttle input is slow and steady (crawling) to avoid breakage of axles and other drivetrain components. Dirt and loose terrain, especially climbs in it requires wheelspin and pre-determined routes. Totally badass video.

yeah which makes it even more impressive a friend of mine and i once built a rollcage for a (smaller)buggy and he really liked the style of these buggies so we too used like tons of tubing in the end, everything was finished when we realized, there was no way to get inside...that was a bummer

Always loved these buggys. What's the general wheelbase target on these? And are they running just 1 ton gear or rockwells?
@battleborn7

@Cr4zyt1ts Probably the heims on the links, not bushings so you always have metal on metal contact on the suspension arms, most passenger cars use bushings for comfort and low road noise.

To everyone saying they are just pointing and shooting, I say come on!! It may not look like itbut there is a lot of skill going on here. You gotta be thinking several steps ahead, pick the right line, use the right amount of throttle at the right time, manipulate the rear steer, and when you do get in trouble keep a level head and do your best to drive out of it!! Crawling is cool, I used to do it, but you have a lot of time to react. The way they do it, you have a split second to react.

the hell raiser buggy is cool but it seems like the rebound on the shocks were set pretty high causing it to bounce instead of staying compressed for a little longer alowing it to bite like Showtime buggy did just a thought ;) .....I would love either one !

It's cool to see these 2 monsters at work. I'd say show time is a lighter rig, makein it a better climber, the rockwells are awesome but heavy, maybe a real deal big block like a 572 would help hellraiser deal with its extra weight?

@SuperStoploss
@SuperStoploss 13 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert but is seems to me that the difference between those 2 buggies, as far as the video showed, was maturity. In the clips of Hell Raiser he was using too much rear steer input. That's why he was sliding sideways so much. By the time he built Show Time he had leaned to better manage the rear steer and not give it so much input.
