Rhaenyra does not hate Alicent! But she was so deeply hurt and felt betrayed that Alicent and King Veserys kept the truth to her. And found out in a manner shes off guard. If Alicent told her the lie and hurt would be much less. Anyways I think one of these moment will help Rhaenyra to grow not just a woman but a great Queen some day.

It's funny, I thought that I would hate Alicent, but now she causes a slight sympathy. She really tries to communicate with Rhaenyra, recognizes her rights to the throne, she talks very sensibly. It was she who prompted the king to help Daemon. In a conversation with her father, Alicent mentioned that she didn't want her son to hate Rhaenyra because of the throne. I agree that for our princess, the marriage of her father and her friend was a blow, but so far, of the two girls, it is Alicent who seems to be more thoughtful. This is not Rhaenyra's hate. I will wait for her to grow into a strong and intelligent heiress.

I think she sincerely cares for Rhaenyra or has/had sincere affection for Rhaenyra but Rhaenyra does not trust her anymore. Alicent knew what's going to happen when her (and Otto's) effort to gain Viserys' affection was successful. I could see the pain in her eyes when Viserys announced it in front of Rhaenyra....Marrying her father equals positioning herself and her house (Hightowers) straight against Rhaenyra, especially with the birth of Aegon II. I think she does try to gently remind Rhaenyra of their affection for each other, but Rhaenyra just doesn't trust her anymore and holds a grudge....

It breaks my soul to see how their friendship slowly starts getting ruined and yes by the men in their lives first their fathers, i adore Viserys but even if he didnt mean it he did ruin the relationship between his daughter and her best friend and Otto i have no words, then the other men that ruined their friendship were their sons , it pisses me off a lot as a woman, they dont have idea that they destroyed a beautiful bond and friendship between two ladies , talking about their sons ok i understand they are still boys and it doesnt matter if Aemond looks older he is still a teenager, talking about Viserys and Otto is different because they are both grown up men and they are both fathers, but they didnt think about their daughters friendship specially Otto because Viserys married in order not to feel pressure

I may be inlove with a man that appeared in episode eight for the first time but i know and have it clear how things were in the beggining, and how little by little things were getting worse, it was so simple when the show started, the father, the brother, the daughter, the daughters friend and her father

Beautiful edit and wonderful song, i loved this friendship but unfortunately Otto poisoned his daughter against her best friend and it all went to the garbage, he betrayed Viserys by puting his grandson when Viserys named Rhaenyra as the heir but as she is a woman Otto uses that for his advantage

I think she is pleased and content by episode 3. Her status and her house's status are strong. She is the queen and she is the mother of Aegon II, a Targaryen son (possible heir). She has always been great with politicking and if you see the circle of her ladies at court, she's surrounded people who would be 100% supportive of the Hightowers. But she does look uncomfortable/sad at times, because I think she sincerely cares about Rhaenyra. There's strong remain of childhood affection she holds for her despite Rhaenyra's anger and resentment toward her.

@@tracys169 I agree but if you noticed even at the beginning before her father asked her to become closer to the king she always looked anxious and when she looked at Rhaegar she seemed like she either envied her or something because her expression was sometimes odd and you really can't tell what's going on inside her head

@@sophiap.0048 I understood her anxiety, Alicent knew being successful with winning Viserys' affection would come with conflicting results. On one hand, she's actively betraying Rhaenyra's confidence, affection and friendship but on the other hand, she will have managed to elevate her family's status AND herself. She's even higher status than her father now LOL. She's anxious previously because she did have to keep it a secret from Rhaenyra as she knew Rhaenyra's personality by now. I'm assuming that Rhaenyra is not totally innocent of court games, so she understands why ladies at court would be eyeing her father (she even relented when Laena was one of the possible future spouse in the end) but Alicent was the last person she 'suspected' to 'pull' what she pulled. Her anger against Alicent was mainly because Alicent had made her choice (in Rhaenyra's eye) to betray her and their friendship (by secretly hiding the fact that she was basically 'courting' Viserys under the blessing of her father). But the way she looked at Alicent could also be jealousy as she missed having Alicent in her corner, because pre-marriage to Viserys, Alicent was her confidante and closest friend. Now Rhaenyra had no one on her side who would really understand what she was going through, no one to talk to. Could Rhaenyra forgive Alicent? Knowing how she is, it's going to be hard, and more events would happen to tear these two apart obviously later on. I was joking to my friend the other day, if only Rhaenyra, Viserys and Alicent could go to family counseling and go on therapy LOL, they may finally be able to TALK to each other....
