I feel like they tried to do what Detroit, becoming human did by having 95% of the game be told instead of played; but missed the mark on what made detroit becoming human so successful

Yeah but in Detroit:BH you could replay the game multiple times to get different endings by choosing and doing different actions. This game only has one ending and from what I heard is very abrupt :/

7 years for a 6hr tech demo I counted 7 Yakuza games released by Sega in the time span between Hellblade and Hellblade 2 and they are all 30hr plus games

Thanks for the review! You can tell you were trying to love the game and there is a lot to enjoy, but they went in the wrong direction. "Cut it in half to improve it" is rough.

I'm an aspiring game dev, coming from the film industry, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the difference between a static film and a dynamic game experience. I feel like the Horizon and TLoU franchises got this right - but how did they get it right? I'm now very intrigued by HB2 in how it fails this, and how it could be made better. The suggestions in this video, though, aren't specific enough for me. From what I'm learning, the gameplay is what happens between the beats of the story. But that gameplay must contribute to the story. For Horizon, this means meeting and helping people, which increases Aloy's reputation, which brings everyone together to help in the final battle. The exploration, also, builds the world, and hones your gameplay skills needed for the final battle. Same for TLoU. The gameplay is stealth, and makes sense for the story. Traversal through the landscape _is the story._ The game skills development prepares you for the climax. It seems to me that this was a lost opportunity for the Hellblade devs to make a great game, not just a great interactive movie. When gameplay is added as an afterthought, it gets in the way of the story, rather than building on it - why make a game then? Being a game must be _necessary._

People loved it for it's rich visuals, story telling, and unique audio style making for an immersive narrative driven game. Others didn't like the pacing, minimalistic combat, and lack of things to do outside the story

I wish if people would stop seeing this game as the next biggest Xbox exclusive. This series was always about being an interactive experience not a full fledged video game. Like a more interactive David Cage game. It is really a psychosis experience with a cool story, backdrop and acting.

This is coming from someone who loved Hellblade and found it to be one of the most profound single player experiences I've had in a game. That said, it's a game that really only needs to be played once and maybe revisited later, and I also paid $20 on steam for it. $50+ US on steam seems super steep for this type of game.

Walked back all of Senua's development from the end of the first game. Made the conscience-spouting "revenge bad" character a slaver in a story so dialogue-sparse you would have NO way of telling he was redeemable if Senua's spirit friends didn't straight up tell you so. Threw out the magic realism for straight up magic, AND gives 3 contradicting explanations for where giants come from in the story. Even as a "video movie" Hellblade 2 blows ass.

To sum it up, this is the most beautiful game of this generation across all platforms. It offers an unprecedented visual and auditory immersion, with brutal, visceral combat and epic scenes. Personally, it’s everything I’ve been waiting for. As for the linear aspect, I don't see how we could expect both this graphical and technical marvel . In fact, the game stands out with its unique proposition, incomparable to any other. The day we get to play an open-world game with this level of quality might come with the next generation, but that’s not what I was expecting from Hellblade 2 anyway. I truly can't wait to play it!

It's not the most beautiful game. It's technically and graphically impressive but it's ugly as sin to look at, blood and mud. Horizon Forbidden West is gorgeous, beautiful and fun to explore, beautiful too but actually stunning to look at.

I just wonder why people don't like this what I mean this game it's like until dawn beyond two souls Detroit become human and the 2k series the dark pictures you just interact and making choices but hellblade doesn't have a choice mechanism what actually people were expecting since the first game was the same you walk around solving puzzles getting scared more or less and doing some fights but people thought this game would've been like a real game play maybe open world stuff like this well I knew it was going to be like this so I'm not disappointed as the new the dark picture series new entrance it will be similar to this game there's a lot of games out there with open world stuff right elements but I get it people want realistic looking game but also it should be a real game play thing I think Alan wake 2 did this more or less there will be games with unreal engine 5 and with real real game play maybe gta 6 will be the very first one who knows but no one should expect a high expectations nova days from gaming industry there's very limited developers who actually making enjoyable games

how ? Please explain how its like 90 % of PS game ? This IS a 6 hours walking simulator . Spiderman, Ghost of tsushima, horizon days gone are Open World GoW hack n slash semi Open World Returnal : rogue like Ratchet and Clank : platformer The last of us games : more than 6 hours and more than walking simulator Uncharted games : more than Hellblade and Split into : gunfights, puzzle and climbing more Dynamic than Hellblade The only game comparable of Hellblade IS the order 1886 which IS the only Sony . Stop with your bias .. Hellblade IS more walking simulator than any Sony games

Somebody needs to revoke your gamer card if you think this game is anything like God of War or The Last of Us, lol. Thats why this game is being set up to fail. Xbox fans are comparing it to franchises that sell like 20 million per installment.
