I really enjoy this exposition, as it reflects how a child would imagine this story. The book is illustrated in ornate and beatiful pictures; yet Hellboy just watched a puppet show, so he imagines the whole story as a puppet theatre. Very nice touch!

Reminded me in the movie to how they mismanaged Batman in the same way in Batman v Superman, likewise Hellboy 2019. Much like Nolan's Batman movies, Del Toro films rather lied upon the director style instead of adapting the comics. However, like in BvS, the 2019 film so desperately tried to use as many Mignola material as possible they forget that those stories told in an order for a bigger picture. You can't begin with your new Batman by adapting the "Dark Knight Returns", because you has to skip key stories to get there. You can't begin a movie series by adapting the issue where he died, because that is the most common in "Hellboy: the Storm" and "Death of Superman". They wanted to tell six different stories instead of featuring one good one.

Everyone keeps asking for Hellboy 3 and while I too want it, I can’t help but be satisfied with this films ending. It’s a happy ending, gives some closure on our title character and his loved ones. I don’t know. I just feel like Guillermo Del Toro gave us a proper two film story.

But didn’t the angel of death say hellboy still would bring about the apocalypse at the end of the world ? A happy ending for the film, but not for the characters. I think Del Toro talked about how the third film would have been gothic and operatic. Damn, I’m still mad we got a reboot...
@gmork1090
@gmork1090 4 жыл бұрын
@@matrixman117edits7 Yep. But we can pretty much infer the rest. Since he said Liz will suffer more than anyone else. Likely it's something Hercules related. He'll probably kill his kids or something, the world goes post apocalyptic, and like in the first movie he turns good again before he redeems himself and dies, or whatever. This is Del Toro after all.

@@NukelearFallout Didn't intend to offend. But the way I see it, Hellboy is a Demon. From what we have seen up until this point, a demon's nature is to be evil and bring Destruction, but due to his nurturing, he was turned into a force for good. Also, Megamind. It wasn't in his nature to be evil, he just wanted to be accepted. But due to his nature inside of a prison and his treatment in school, he decided being bad was something he was good at. I'm not at all certified on teaching this subject, so don't take my word as gospel.

It's kinda dumb for immortal beings like elves to rely on the promises of man. Not that we're malicious, but because of our short lifespans. Without a witness, those promises/contracts are bound to be lost in time. Ending up as stories that we have no idea whether it's real or made up. Especially the fact that they don't show up to the masses. If I know that magical beings in the forest exist, I will think twice about trying to mess with them/nature.

Very true. But I also support Prince Nuada, since unlike his father, he truly trying to save his species and other magical beings (not to mention that Prince was somewhat right about humans). His father is also good, but also has some questionable moments (like leaving his people to die, because humans forgot about it’s treaty due to the “human’s nature”).

Because the studio was completely stoned out of their f**king minds. Pretty much everyone from Ron Pearlman to Guillermo del Toro was on board for a third film, but the studio intervened with the creative process to the point where everyone backed out of the project.

@@SpaceCase132 It's obvious in hindsight that since Hellboy (2019) was a box office bomb, maybe the studio should have taken the risk after all and given Guillermo Del Toro that $125 million budget he needed. Even if it wouldn't have made its money back entirely, Hellboy III would still have made a lot more money than the reboot we got.

Their biggest issue is the single point of failure. An F-35 can move at super sonic speeds and drop 100 megatons of hot flaming death on their command structure, instantly halting the army. Plus *any* royal can challenge them. We have more spare royals and suicide bomb vests than they have elves.
@kythebengzon8023

@@The9TKitsune This assumes Human Royalty can command the army which seems to be a horrible failsafe. It is more likely that only those of the elves ogres and more could challenge the wearer of the crown. The humans are enemies why exactly would they be allowed to call for a challenge. Nuada could find like some alternate fae dimension to hide in after telling the golden army to wipe out humanity. Good luck finding him then.

Those two Hellboy movies were so beautiful. The cast, the story and the god damn costumes, even this intro, look at it! Hellboy is imagining it with puppets because he just watched Howdy Doody... I can't believe that they thought a reboot would be more successful than a third Hellboy movie. In the end they made a bad movie, pissed off the fan base with it and lost a lot of money. Here's to hoping that they learned and finally give us a third one! Haha.

In about 10-15 more years. Examples are how they're currently making 'true' threequels/sequels of Ghostbusters and Robocop and they already, poorly, tried to do the same with the last Terminator movie and make it a 'true' Terminator 3 when they should have just continued with the Genesys story.
