Helldivers 2 - first time trying the new commando rocket launcher

The MLS-4X Commando Rocket Launcher looks pretty strong. I got robbed in the end but had a great first impression trying it out!

The laser guidance aspect feels like it was built for the peak physique armour, it feels so much better watching the rocket curve towards gunships

Arnold Schwarzenegger build, bring only the weapons and armour from viper commandos and then the commando missile launcher as support weapon

The Commando rocket can also dumb fire like the EATs by holding reload and switching off the laser.

True. Can also be rapid fired and mess up a Strider's face since the laser works for all rockets!

Its definitely a side grade to the EAT. Instead of having to run back to grab another EAT (the main reason I dont like using it bc I often find myself over run and unable to reach the second.) you have 4 missiles that function like having 2 EATS. The main draw tho is they one tab fabs from any angle and are guided so no shots wasted on ranging. Plus they one tap hulks so theoretically you can take 4 down b4 needing another. Gotta wait to see how effective they are against biles, chargers, and fly rat nests. If they can 1-2 shot rat nests I honestly might main these on bugs.

Personally I see it as a disposable Spear, like how the EATs are a disposable Recoilless. Since both it and the spear have homing, and can destroy fabs from any angle

It two shots tank turrets from any angle and takes down fabs from any angle, I’m SOLD. I got to play during the first mission it got released so I was one of the first people on when it dropped. I quite like it and it will be replacing the EAT for me

Based on the numbers I've heard, it also two shots any Charger and the Bile Titan with two head shots. It has just as good a home on the bug front if you use EATs there. It certainly will replace my Quasar most of the time.

14:10 I'm guessing it has something to do with a past update that prevents players from landing on top of higher areas of the map. So, there's this an "invisible" barrier to prevent players from landing on high areas, like those cliffs. And it also stops players from steering their hellpods to the other side of those cliffs.

The main downgrade of this over the EAT is you can't share the extra with a friend if they need a weapon and the longer cooldown. It feel like two EATs compacted into a single launcher with double the cooldown timer (so 4 EATS vs 1 Commando). When facing multiple tanks/striders/titans you are going to feel that longer cooldown. However the tradeoff is you don't overkill smaller targets and looks like it is going to be the best bot base killer in the game.

Definitely replaces the EAT for me. More flexible and despite the longer cooldown more spammable. Still have to try it vs the tankier chargers to see how many headshots it'll take to kill. Tanks are a solid 2 or 3 shots so you ahve one rocket spare to miss or take something else out.

Feels that Commando just completely eclipsed EAT, especially if it can two-shot bile titans. In defence missions, I keep having similar problems when dying for 1st time and then just getting continuously spawned outside the base, without steering ability... so frustrating.

@@forlornfoe I highly doubt it will 2 tap biles. It seems to have half the dmg per rocket as a single EAT the main draw will be its fab destroying capabilities.

This thing looks cooler and imo performs better that the EATS so i hope it performs well against bugs too, probably gonna main it for a while.

You played a great solo game. There is also something weird where bot drop on the last two waves ingress super hard.

the best thing about it in the context of these missions is I get to run 4 orbitals/eagles AND the Commando. Feels like I get so much extra fire power lol But I feel like the cooldown is quick enougj that I can have it up for each engagement as they pop up.

I'm changing my bot build because of this. Instead of shoulder laser I'm running Scythe and Commando from now on. One shots Hulks. One shots Gunships. Busts Fabs. Mary me Commando.

Interesting. So if I understand, maybe it’s meant for more medium enemies since it does less damage? That, or maybe it’s meant to be a longer range choice

Still playing around with it, but I think it does the same damage as an EAT. The cooldown is 120s compared to the EATs 70s. Over time you'll get more rockets out using the commando. It also holds 4 compared to the EATs 1 and then you have the laser guided cherry on top. It seems to be just well-rounded and very strong against heavies and long range threats. @@Wallbouncing From what I've seen from other CCs and dataminers/leakers, the damage is 450 to the EAT's 650, with the same armor pen. This isn't significant though as they have largely the same breakpoints. 1 shot for Hulks and Gunships, 2 for Chargers, Bile Titans and Dropships, 4 for Factory Striders. Imo this gives the Commando a better range of effective targets.

13:45 did the last shot just misfire? No rocket came out of the tube, but the ammo was spent.

a rocket came out but this game has dark souls level hitboxes where the rocket just threaded the needle under the devastator's armpit, haha. Thanks for watching!

If you slow it down to 0.5 playback speed right before he fires, you can see that it goes under the arm of the Dev, and over the top of the busted tank behind it, exploding somewhere off in the distance behind the fire where you can't see it.

What primary weapon were you using against the rank and file bots here?

This was the Diligence Counter Sniper. Should be under the marksman type for primary weapons.

@@Wallbouncing I lost some 5 of those defense missions last Saturday. It's always a factory casually walking over a mountain and destroying everything behind us without anybody even noticing.

@@sekkuar I've seen countless posts like that on reddit/youtube so when I saw the factory lurking next to extract I just wanted to make sure the cannon turret was taken out and then refocus back on the gates. They need to fix that, as well as the reinforcements I was getting, haha.
