Think fundamentally if you were using it pre-fix (don’t call fixes buffs, the weapon was not working as intended)… well the problem was that, no, no you were not putting bullets in the enemy because it was just bouncing off.

I've had to specifically train myself when playing Helldivers because every other shooter I've ever played has taught me "Reload after every engagement because you never know when you'll need that full mag" so even if I've shot 2 bullets in a 120 round mag, I'll reload...I have mostly trained myself out of that with Helldivers

haven't played hd2 yet but in other games I've played with full mag drop, it can still be a really good idea to drop the mag that's only half full as its better to be able to dump a full mag when you need to than it is to dump half the mag and have to reload in-front of the enemy which needed a full mag to kill.

​@@julianlowrise4981It's a case-by-case basis in HD2. The majority of enemies can be killed with just 1-3 bullets if you're a good shot, and around 6-10 if you're a below average shot. Masses of trash mobs are best met with a full mag, but otherwise don't reload unless you're almost empty. Big guys can likewise be taken down with very few bullets if you're an excellent shot and can hit their head, but otherwise your bullets are useless against their heavy armor, so you have to either use heavy weapons or maneuver to find a weak point. Because of this, and the fact that resupplies are few and far between, it behooves you to ration your ammo as much as possible and keep yourself aware of your surroundings to know if you really need that full mag or not.

I’ve learned to always reload after every encounter in survival horror games like dead space and resident evil. The worst thing that can happen to you is that you have to reload when either a brute necromorph is charging you or a madman villager with a chainsaw is wildly swinging at you.

Huh, I kinda actually do the opposite of that for the same reason, if I'm picking up stuff from my corpse, I make sure that whichever primary of mine ends up on the ground has a full magazine, because if you're running away from the horde later and really need any gun off the ground, running out of bullets later is less likely to kill you than running out of bullets now.

Punisher, Slugger, and Senator are exempt from this; they are all reload per round. AutoCannon also allows for reloading at half-clip without wasting the other half, and won't let you reload the gun at least until half of the rounds have been depleted.

The thing is: You actually reload faster when your clip isn't fully emptied yet. Just a little bit, but it's faster. Not that I get to use that much often when it matters, since I am the person who pumps an entire shotgun-clip into an enemy before I realize it's empty and the enemy stopped moving already.
