Heller Product News 2023

2023 will be an exciting year for Heller fans! We are pleased to finally present our new products for the coming year. Over 40 items are on the schedule and will delight modellers in all scales and themes. In addition to highlights with completely new designs, we have also completely revised a large number of great products. All articles are now also visible on www.heller.fr.

Greetings from America. I'm in my early '60's, and I have built my share of Heller kits over the years from your fine line of WW2 and postwar aircraft. It will be nice to have these back; especially the Mirage IV P that I missed out on the first time around. I hope you will please consider reissuing some of your more unusual, vintage kits, such as the 1/50 scale Trident and the 1/40 scale Coléoptère. I'd also like the opportunity to build the 1/30 scale Veronique Research Rocket, and the Parca Missile, too. Glad to have you back!

I genuinely do wish the new owners well, but I hope you will make the packaging of the new issue kits very clear to modelers. I for one am not interested in the old kits and if I can't easily tell if I am looking at a classic Heller kit in a new box or a completely new tooling, I won't buy either. Airfix had a similar problem and have recently fixed this with their classic branding and box art to easily identify the old kits and I hope Heller can do something similar.

Hello from sunny Normandy! I live 35 miles from the Heller factory, and my works takes me in their city, called Trun, every now and then. You would be surprised...The "factory" consists of 3 buildings looking like hangars more than buildings, few people work there, and they don't produce models every day, they have an alternate production of plastic parts for the industry. I believe they mostly are going to rebox old stuff, and also use molds from other manufacturers. On the other hand, the new german owner seems to be a very good manager, so we'll see....

The very best of luck to the rejuvenated Heller! I am particularly looking forward to the TWA Super Constellation and will definitely buy one when available here in the USA. The brand new Hawkeye prototype looks amazing, and I'm sure it will be a great seller. May I suggest a new mold? The SAAB 29 Tunnan in 1/72 scale. The classic Heller version is quite old and lacking in detail considered standard for modern models. Yet it still sells at a premium on the used market. A completely new version with a good cockpit and underwing stores would be in tremendous demand. I know I would probably buy at least two for myself!

There was a Heller model of the Breguet Alizé at 1/50 in 1963 that I would like to find again. It was just fantastic with all mobile and connected parts (arresting hook, radome, ailerons, landing gear, wheels with rubber-like tires). This was a great line.

Why not consider 1/35 Waffen Grenadier Brigade of the SS Charlemagne - probably the bravest and most patriotic French division of WW2 and of course another super German/French collaboration.

I got a Heller airplane kit for the first time last year. It seems a great value, the new lineup looks great. But please dont forget the early/pre WW2 era French planes in 1/72 scale. No one else makes them.

I built several Heller 1/72 aircraft in the 1960's. Most were subjects not made by the other manufacturers, and their Hawker Hurricane was one of the very best.

Heller , la plus pourrie des marques de maquettes. Les maquettes d'avions en l'occurence comportent de très graves erreurs et sont de mauvaise qualité. C'est même une honte de vendre de telles reproductions. Heureusement qu'il existe des marques sérieuses dont les modèles sont un vrai plaisir à monter et à reproduire fidèle à la réalité.... Pour Heller, il faut quasiment TOUT reprendre, refaire, remplacer, corriger tant les fautes sont nombreuses..... je ne vous félicite pas et ce qui est dommage c'est que vous persistez sans vous améliorer...

Heller was that rare exotic foreign kit maker back in the 1970s in America. Always interesting subjects, and distinctive box art. My local Hobby Shop was one of the largest in America and thus stocked many foreign kits (San Antonio Hobby Shop, Mt. View CA.) Keep up the great work.

Heller is one of the brands with which I started building assembly kits about 40 years ago, I am very happy that it is operational again but as an old model maker without any desire for complications, such as resin or photo-etched parts, I would like the models to be sufficiently simple (not with hundreds of parts) and the price is not excessive.

Great news...Heller made some excellent and unusual kits. Heller and Matchbox were my favs. One kit I never bought but would love to see re-released is the Arc en Ciel aircraft.

i bought a kit, the Potez airplane. I don't know how old it was but it was bad, the plastic was almost see through and the fit was horrible. I hope you've improved, we'll see

Thank you for bringing back the Lockheed L-1049 Super Connie. I have a couple of those from back in the day, would love to get a couple more. If you could improve your decals that wold be fantastic. I made a Heller tank recently and they were terrible. The kit was great but the decals compared to Airfix where some of the worst I have see in recent kits I have made. I will continue to support Heller because of their unusual and different kits that other companies don't manufacture but please do something about the decals.

You guys really need to get serious about upscaling that 1/450 version of the WWII Battleship HMS Vanguard, which you have reissued in partnership with Hasegawa. Most modellers have amassed collections of 1/700 scale waterline battleships which cannot include HMS Vanguard because it is not produced. But more importantly, the world’s favourite scale for WWII battleships is 1/350. Neither Tamiya nor Trumpeter, who produce a full range of 1/350 battleships includes HMS Vanguard in their catalogue of kits. Nobody wants to build a 1/450 scale Vanguard which is out of scale when added to a 1/350 scale display collection of battleships. Surely, CAD can easily up the scale of the existing 1/450 mold to produce the 1/350 Vanguard that a million naval modellers are pulling their hair out over because they can’t get one to complete their 1/350 collections. This seems like a no-brainer. What is the problem here?

I have bought my first heller kit when my family had moved to the Kitsap area in WA at a store in Silverdale WA and I like the that the kit was amazing I had to say thank you mom for getting the money to buy it and every time I bought a heller kit I think about how much I loved my mom for the opportunity to work on every model kits that I have earned by doing hard work for the money to buy them

Fantastique But I bought a Renault 4L and I realize the tyres were not exactly sized for the model......when you finish the model you can see clearly that the wheels are a mistake for the proporcionality of the model. I hope you to correct that. Thank you, merci !!!

I still love my classic Heller kits, the Richelieu, the He-112, Spitfire XVI, Helldiver, etc. They are still there. Best of luck!

While i like their various product material, I can't get excited about their models. I did a Citroen HY of theirs and hit a huge snag about 1/2 way through. IMO there was a major defect in moulding layout, resulting in a total part fit issue to continue on. I had a lot of work into the kit, perhaps my best work although this really soured me for the brand. It was disposed of before completion. A considerable amount of work, money, paint, glue wasted. This was my experience, someone who's built models since 1961.
