The music of this zone gives a very empty vibe. But thats the point. A lot of people complain about this zone being so empty despite its great size, but the purpose of the zone is to act as a wasteland, as it is the place in outland that houses the most demonic influence. Not my favorite zone of bc, but a fantastic zone anyway!
@Muggums4life

I started playing 3 or 4 months before the launch of BC, so even though technically I started in Vanilla, I had no idea what I was doing. I picked the game up randomly one day without any knowledge of the warcraft universe and just started playing. It wasn't until a month after the launch of BC did I make a group of friends (in game) that taught me how to play the real way (instead of just grinding mobs cause what are quests?) and I gamed with them for years after that. I remember finally making it to Karazhan which was my first raid ever. However I was always jealous of the players who got to see SSC and TK so me and my closest friend at the time joined a guild and I was lucky enough to see all of SSC and TK and most of Black Temple until I quit for a few months (because my computer became shit, If I logged out in Shattrath I had to have a GM relocate me lol) until returning after the launch of Sunwell, however I wasn't in a guild so I didn't get to see that raid. It wasn't until WoTLK did I get serious again about raiding, after gearing up in Naxx with a semi-hardcore guild I remember applying and getting into a US top 20 guild and raided all through out Ulduar, TOC and heroic Icecrown with them (fancy server first titles). I quit after Icecrown became a grind. I decided to come back in Cataclysm, played for a few months, and it just wasn't the same game :( I tried really hard to enjoy it but I couldn't. I was tempted to come back for Warlords of Draenor (as another "outland" intrigued me) but people have told me it's a disaster. I don't think I'll play the game again, however every summer I always have the "urge" as summer was when I got my most playtime in, so I come to these videos to fix my craving. Sorry for the huge text post haha, had to get it out.

I remember going around this area, and having the music that comes on around 5:54 playing. I happened to be in an area with no enemies, and I remember just stopping to take in the sights. Looking up in the sky at all the different stars, that giant green nebula thing in the sky, that fricken planet...it was all so alien to what I knew from wow. Such a surreal experience. Blizzard were such experts at making good atmosphere in their games.

I remember not liking the atmosphere when I first set foot in Outland because it was so vastly different from the Tolkien-alike vanilla WoW that I had become to love so much. But eventually TBC became my favourite WoW experience because it was such a polished and enjoyable release on all fronts while still keeping it challenging. The Hellfire Peninsula score stuck to me the most, probably because it was the first thing you saw and heard when walking through the dark portal on that momentous release on January 16th, 2007. With no zones or events being phased at that time, it was pretty much rush hour in this zone those first moments. I decided not to play TBC classic to preserve my fond memories. After all, nostalgia can only be enjoyed for things that are in the past. Reliving it is next to impossible because, all things equal, we got 15 years older and are experiencing life in a different way.

If you played this expansion at launch, that moment when you first stepped through the Dark Portal into Outland, there was no way to describe that feeling. And the zone being chocked full of people, even new Blood Elves and Draenai. It's something that gets repeated in some form every expansion but this was the first, it sticks with you. And finding groups for Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace was super easy those first days too.

I have a lot of friends who never listened to the WoW soundtrack(s) even once. They had been playing for years but couldn't tell Durotar music from Elwynn Forest, or Orgrimmar from Stormwind for that matter. They just didn't know, they had never heard it. For me today, the music of a loved game is like a rollercoaster through time. Touching all of the great memories you have, giving you a glimpse back into a lost time. Lost but not forgotten. Best years of my life.

I remember day one on my server, all those people rushing through the portal. There were even some poor people that suddenly found themselves in the middle of the demons because of the lag... A new place, a new begin. You start enjoying doing the quests in Hellfire where the Hellboars are roaming free, where meteors rain upon the darkest areas and where the Fel Reavers are thirsty for blood... Then, suddenly the grounds are shaking immensely. You look at the sky... No Hellboars... You turn around... A wild Fel Reaver appeared!

One of the many things that made World of Warcraft a great game is their OST. The feeling of a place, I mean music and scenary mixed makes a amazing atmosphere that just WoW has. And, man, Hellfire Peninsula was a nice area. When you just across the Dark Portal and look those guards fighting with those waves of demons is great. Up leveling in Hellfire was a nice thing, too. With a feeling of a new dangerous world, with fire emerging from the ground and that stream of nether energy in the sky...

at 8:00, you can ear the beginning of the diablo 3 main theme. At first, part of this soundtrack was for the first iteration of diablo 3 but was taken into burning crusade, as well as many others soundtracks for some reasons (Auchindoun is another good example). Then, the unused part of this soundtrack (called Lord, you can find it on youtube) ended in the released version of diablo 3. Uelmen was very unhappy of this because the soundtrack wasn't finished and had a lot of issues...

The game evolves to meet new needs and gameplay styles. I've enjoyed WoW every step of the way, but unfortunately, times change, and you won't get to relive Vanilla/BC/Wrath forever. Blizz wouldn't get NEARLY as many sales if they didn't mix it up once in a while. But there's always this... stone-age or nostalgic feel of running through Vanilla and BC dungeons in this modern day. Like there's been so many people through that the place seems ancient...

blissB2 Why was TBC so great? WotLK was easily the peak of WoW, at least you weren't forced to start in the same exact zone every time you made it to the expansion levels. It also had the greatest raids, ICC and Ulduar, which are arguably better than Black Temple and equal to Karazhan.
