A Daddy Osprey can never walk by a stick without wanting to make it part of his nest. I worry about Antali. How can he migrate all by himself? He's such a baby bird.

🤣Re Daddy ospreys, right? 😂 ~I hear you re our precious Antali - I think there are many of us out here who feel protective of that character. However, remember the genes he has. Remember he is a fierce osprey hard-wired for survival. Think of when he finally turned on sister (bless her) and claimed the nest as his, refusing to let her land on HIS castle, ever again! Think of the times he has lunged at Dad, telling his father also, to get off his nest. He has it in him. There does indeed seem to be something very vulnerable about that bird, I get your concerns, I have them too. But I tell myself all those things that I shared w/you... ~~All we can do is hope for the best for all of them. We know the odds are against them, especially juvies, so it's scary to consider all of that. If one is a praying person, one can certainly send out prayers and wishes of protection and continual good health to them all. Their lives are no different than ours in the sense that life is a precious gift and no one knows how long each of us have to be here. ❤

@@DLionheart Thanks for the words of encouragement! I am always overwhelmed by the fact that the juvies have to migrate with only their instincts to guide them. What a daunting task.

@@marilynwilkins1684 YVW - hope you found it all helpful. 🥰 ~And yes the whole migrating alone thing truly boggles the mind! Just another of those mysteries in life that we will never know the answer to. How on Earth do they JUST KNOW? It's incredible really. They just know when to go. They just know where to go. UNBELIEVABLE. But real. The fantastic distances that these birds fly off to - all over the world, these osprey fly off to VERY far away places. There are no words bec it truly is unfathomable. ❤

@@DLionheart Hello and I saw a concern that I too had so I can tell you you're certainly not alone! Many of us are going through this same thing with the fear and anxiety, especially when it comes to our little Antali. I too come to this beautiful soul with questions and possible guidance. It is incredibly consoling and helps to understand and reframe thinking. I hope neither of you minded me dropping into your conversation. Thank you 🤗❤

@@LisaBelson Hey Lisa! These conversations are open and for all of us to share. 🥰We are together in our love of these osprey - we are family, in that way. I'm glad to have you as a part of this wonderful community! We all gain from interacting w/each other and from reading all the other comments. It's truly a beautiful thing! 🥰 ~I'm missing "our" osprey as I know all of us are. We are still seeing some of them - via The Owl Pole Cam - up on Iris' tree and somebirdy - prob Iris bec she loves that place = up on the stadium lights. ~~But man, the empty nest feels both happy when we think of this incredible season AND it feels sad that we are not seeing them all the time now. Sigh... This part of the experience is always hard = the letting go part. ♥♥♥♥ *~~~Dr. Greene stated today that he is going out there tomorrow to look hard for the family*

When Iris briefly stopped by the nest on Sunday, September 15th, I thought this was perhaps her good-bye for this year. And it apparently was.

@@IlonaSzombati-zt4wx YVW - sure miss seeing them on the nest... We can see some of them periodically - via The Owl Pole Cam - up on Iris' tree. Sometimes eating a fish, sometimes just perched over there. ~They're out there doing their osprey things, but yes it's sad to not see and hear them.❤

I just love this boy something fierce! It's the 17th and he is believed to have migrated. It has already been tough wondering if he's okay. Thank you for this great video of father and son. I just adore Finn as well! He has proven himself to be an amazing mate and father. Any thoughts on who is still around? I've been looking around at all of my resources and people are saying different things. Thanks again 🥰❤

Heya Lisa - I don't know where else you follow re this nest. I don't do FB myself however, I see the FB posts re Hellgate Osprey which get shared in Twitter, in the Hellgate Osprey account. Dr. Greene said today that he is going out there tomorrow to "look hard" for the family. ~I doubt Finn has left and I'm not convinced Iris has left either. Why? Bec of all the activity on "her" tree and on the stadium lights, which Iris has always liked. Normally, it would be Iris leaving first, then "the kids", last Finnegan. ~~However, we know this has not been an ordinary season! No offspring for five years and no reliable, steady mate for so very long - then BOOM! Awesome, devoted mate and two babies! ~~~So who knows? I'm concerned about Sum-eh bec no completely definite sighting of her, just a maybe from Dr. Greene around the 8th. I do believe she tried multiple times to come to the nest in the past, but Antali had made his power switch and he took over their nest. ~~~~So myself, I truly don't know who is still there, in their area and who is not. We're definitely not hearing our Antali as we did. Maybe the kids are catching their own fish, which is possible though most juvies don't learn to do that until they get to their migration place. It's possible the whole family is a bit further up the river as well w/some of them coming back to various trees closer to the nest, across the river. Or... maybe not. 🤣 ~~~~~Hopefully, we hear Dr Greene's report tomorrow of who he saw out there. Thanks for you Lisa!
