Intro: in some video I read a comment in which a German US visitor was reported, who went for a walk with the host dog (husky), and the two came back after 5 hours and the husky fell asleep completely exhausted. I had to laugh soooo.🤣 Sorry reminded me Jay and Stephan!😉

Such a great video! What are some must-buys from The States that you bring back to Germany with you? How do you manage the safety of your homes and such during the 6 months abroad? Is there a management company that takes care of that? We will be toggling between the States and Portugal every 6 months ourselves and are researching ways to navigate it all successfully. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, we are fortunate that in both places family lives in the same town so they watch our home while we are away. You can hire a company which will go to look after the property weekly or monthly. We have this option in the USA but I am not sure if it's available in Europe. Here are some tips for you, based on learning through our mistakes. 1. Assure you have someone go in weekly or at the least bi-weekly to flush all toilets in the house. 1. Hire a Gardner to take care of the garden, it is insanely difficult after it has grown out. Also, you can ask the Gardner to look after your house and let you know if there's anything suspicious. 3. Setup webcam cameras throughout the house so that you can monitor while you are away. This will continually give you peace of mind and you will feel connect to to your "far-away-home". 4. In Germany, we have the option to have our mail re-directed to the USA for 6 months. Lastly to answer your question about the must-buys, we actually don't bring anything back and forth. We've trained ourselves to enjoy what each country has to offer and avoid the hassle of bringing things back and forth. I hope this helps and I apologize for the delay in responding 🙏

Mmmh ... if you frequently stay 6 months in Germany and the other 6 months in California - why don't you leave Germany just three months earlier and just avoid the cold totally? Nov - Mar in California Apr - Oct in Germany, and you would have sun and warm temperatures all the time.

I actually love the cold. I grew up in India and California so I've always have been in warm weather. Cold is a nice welcome for those few months :)
