Another great teaching video. Is catnip similar in health benefits to catmint? I have a lot of catmint, but I can’t find much on its therapeutic benefits. Thank you.
@DinaFalconi Жыл бұрын
Thanks for appreciating the video. I have not used catmint internally, although enjoy it in the gardens. I think you are referring to Nepeta faassenii species, yes? Even so, I have only used Nepeta cataria aka catnip therapeutically. But would be good to learn more!

My cat roles around in my catmint plants, so I planted some catnip seeds for him, had no idea it was also medicinal. Great info.

Love your info. Fyi catnip is loved by the bees and makes the most fabulous honey. Mine also grows huge and beautiful in gravel

Thanks, sounds tasty = catnip honey! And glad to know yours is so happy in gravel. I imagine it's getting plenty of water, yes?

Yes under edges of barn, lots of plants huge and healthy. Keeps the flys down too as part of barn management.

Thank you ~ Good to know that it isn't a long lasting (in one planting hole) perennial. I have my one catnip caged or it would be decimated by the barn cats. What a wonderful open space yours is growing in - too cool!

Ha: caged! Hoping you can plant more for you and the cats!

I have just discovered this channel and I am impressed and want to know more! I'm curious how did you get all those plants in your garden ? How many years does it take to get a variety of things such as yours?

Thanks for appreciating my work and gardens! We've been tending our homestead landscape in a wild / permacultural manner since 1998.

Is catnip related to the same family tree as hemp? Looks somewhat similar in the leaf structure.
@DinaFalconi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Not in the same family as hemp. Catnip is in the mint family, aka Lamiaceae family.

Yes, for sure, can be used without inducing sleep, but if you are sleep deprived it might make you relaxed and sleepy.

Since this is immune boosting, should people with autoimmune disease refrain from use?
@DinaFalconi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. I think it would be fine, but if you have any concerns, best to check in with your health care provider. Everyone is different.

I’m wondering if it would be good to use if you have psoriasis? Can you use it to help with calming the skin down?
@DinaFalconiАй бұрын
Thanks Maria, for your question. It is not known for this use, but could make sense, depending on the person / issues / context. If you try it, please let us know.

Does babies breath ,wild carrot and hemlock look somewhat the same to a complete amateur?
@DinaFalconi3 жыл бұрын
To a complete amateur, many plants can look the same. Best to study, with patience, looking at all the plant ID features, then identifying plants becomes a fun puzzle that you can solve. Many of the videos I create are meant to help develop ID skills. Repetition is the best way to learn this new plant language. So great to view the videos a bunch of times to become fluent.

Where I come from in Dominica 🇩🇲 the flowers 💐 are much more colorful & much more potent best flu remedy I know strangely I’m only today finding out it’s name is catnip but we call it mamizoo or the toothbrush tree because the older generation would use the tree stems as such 😊
@DinaFalconi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, curious to know the scientific name of the plant you use in Dominica. Please note, that this plant we focus on in this video, whose scientific name is Nepeta cataria, is not a tree.
@7SKYZ1SUNPUBGM2 жыл бұрын
@@DinaFalconi sorry for my way of speaking using the term tree but it’s the same plant (herb) how ever you wanna call it but the ones in the Caribbean are much stronger than those on KZbin stronger in body stronger in medicinal potency

Am new subscriber, haven't watch all your videos so far, I want to ask if you have any plant for bloating .
@DinaFalconi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for subscribing. Please note that I don't give personal health advice. Still for bloat, generally speaking, one could use a digestive aromatic like fennel seeds, and a bitter herb like dandelion. Catnip may also be helpful. Be well.

@@DinaFalconi Supposedly, if you want to research it with the wee bit of information, I'm about to share, there is an ancient Book/Holy book that says that cats are a cross between a Lion and a serpent. They are also said to be able to see things we cannot and, I think they are the only creature aside from humans to have a pineal gland.
