Now because of that, the father locked his son in the basement to either protect him from any harm so he couldnt die the same as the mother and the sister or he simply thinks that his son is far too dangerous to be in the outside world

Cause it was her imagination, the entire game is centered the brother and sister’s imagination as they play hide & seek. She (the sister) thought they were still playing and imagined herself being saved by a nearby crow. She realized too late that they weren’t playing and she got killed.
