I don't think the Shadow is only our protagonists creation of past dramas, as seen in the last sceen the shadowman is blocking the exit for the Neighbor. I feel like the Exit is a representation of conquering your traumas. When our protagonist defeats the Shadow he is free to go through the Exit, to know that he has conquerd his past traumas, but we can also see that the Neighbor, couldn't do the same with his. I basically agree to everythin else told in both these 2 videos.

I really appreciate the effort you went through to piece it all together. When the finished game was released I honestly felt perhaps it was abstract for the sake of abstract and wondered if there was a cohesive story at all- until these two videos. The content of the game you've used really support your points, so this is how I'll choose to see the story from now on. I can appreciate what they have worked towards and hopefully more people see this video so it doesn't go down as simply "a disappointing final game" like most people say but rather a well thought out story- or at least a story people can appreciate even if it's not their cup of tea. Thanks for making sense of it all! (I also wonder if perhaps the reason the shadowman and the neighbour are separated at the end is because the Shadowman was (partially) the protagonist's childhood perception of the neighbour vs who the neighbour really was- and they were separated because they were not one in the same? Or the fact the neighbour is haunted by his past or something...or as you already theorized yourself. Anyway, again, thanks!)

Ok In fnaf I just thought of this what if in fnaf 4 the crying child thought brother (michael Afton) and friends were the animatronics haunting the crying child in the game -evidence : in the game when you first look out the door it sayes *warning* if you hear BREATHING close the door. I believed that the shadow was a manifestation of the neighbour's son, which would bring dark memories to that of the neighbour and the man. Plus when it was banging at the door, it could have signified the son being locked away and showed a feeling of aggression amongst the shadow.

I believe the shadow man represents the neighbor’s anxiety and fears so in the dream cutscene thing at the end where the shadow man wants to get to the neighbor in that little shack but the door is blocking it from getting to him, I noticed there was a exit door in the shadow man’s so called room he inhabits in the shack. I believe the neighbor wants to get to that exit to just leave everything behind and be free, but the he can’t. His anxiety of being caught and fears of it is blocking his freedom and that’s how he stays. The shadow man is just a visual representation of the neighbors feelings that he can’t surpass. At least that’s what I think, I’m most likely wrong though considering this is coming from an 11 year old 😆, but who knows.

At 9:24 you can see an exit door, what I understand from this is that the shadow aka the fear is blocking the neighbor's way to the exit beacause he did not overcome his fear. That shadow is very small beacause is his child, the fear of losing his children, at the end of the game you go trugh a exit door wake up and look happy beacause you overcamed your fears and got to your exit, while the neighbor is still stuck..

or both. the player's shadow is proportionately sized;.the neighbor's is the size and shape of his son. the player overcomes his fear from his childhood trauma, but the neighbor remains unable to confront his fears and trauma regarding the phantom of his escaped murderer son, who represents all three losses in his life (four if you count sanity). in other words, the shadow is an archetype for repressed fear and trauma.

the final battle with Sōsuke Aizen was supposed to end the series as a whole, and what the author decided was going to wrap it up, but shoen jump had him locked in a contract due to the ratings of the manga and anime so he stopped caring about the story line after that point.

For me, I don't think Mr. Shadow is your mind's traumatic embodiment, but what if it was the brother? The Simming Brother!! See, what really happened to him in the basement? Maybe he never escaped and died, becoming a spirit that haunts the neighbor. It could explain the shadow watching the crying neighbor, standing over the grave, and the final scene. The shadow will always haunt the neighbor for what he has done to him. He wants to get revenge on him, thus freeing you from the basement in Act 1 so you could escape and know what the neighbor has done to him. But why would the shadow haunt the child version of you? There's a chance that you have angered the shadow after nobody has known of the neighbor's doings. He is haunting you and your dreams. Trying to destroy your mind. That's why the shadow can be seen in the remains of the neighbor's house. The Simming boy...is the Shadow But that's JUSSSSTTTTT A THEORYYYYYY *DUN*DUN*DUN*

Question: In act three there is a picture of The Neighbor, a woman, a girl, and YOU. The player. So why would the players picture with a somewhat loving family be in the neighbors house if there not family. Here’s my theory: Once your mother died stuff happened and the neighbor kidnapped his daughter and son. You got away while he locked the daughter in the basement. You trying to save your sister go into the basement. You get caught. Since your sister is not seen then we can assume that she is dead. Maybe from The Neighbor pushing her down the stairs? Also in act one if the neighbor catches you you mutters somthing under his breath it sounds like “Ugh son” or “Come on son” He keeps you there as the only family member he has left. When you escape he looks kinda sad. You left him in fear of him. Your afraid of him for killing his mother and sister. In act three you get evicted and decide to go back to the only family you have left The Neighbor aka your dad. You face up to your fears of a child and realize that there’s nothing to be afraid of in his basement. For the shadow man I think that there is not one of them but two. The tiny one you see is the ghost of your sister the memories of your dad killing her. The big one is your dad. Your protecting yourself from his abuse. The cardboard boy (Simming child) is just another version of you. The reason he’s operating the ride is because it’s you taking a trip through memory lane. He is also there when the Neighbor roars which might be a representation of how powerless you were. In act two the player is abused shown from the bandages on his arm. Due to this cycle of abuse the player might want to try to escape and come on bad terms with The Neighbor. That’s why the door is locked. The cardboard boy unlocking the door is you telling yourself that you can escape therefore the door being unlocked. The mini shadow at the end trying to get to The Neighbor is the girl trying to get to terms with her farther. But he won’t let her in so there both sad. Ok I’m done. I know that ending was really corny and stuff but I couldn’t find another way to word it. If you find any plot holes please tell me so I can try to make this better. I didn’t mean any hate to you or your channel keep up the great work. This was just my opinion on it so can you keep any hate to yourself. Thank you to whoever read all of this.

Nixy 97 I know I’m late but my personal theory is that the shadow represents depression, or reality. In the last scene you play in the game the shadow is trying to get to the neighbor. The neighbor has run from reality from so long, that there is nowhere left to run. He is faced to be trapped or face reality.

AHMED PRO 14 Makes no sense. He couldn't be, how would he not remember his family? Why wasn't he in the family picture? And if he was sent away, ran away, or somehow got separated from his family why would he just be ok living across the street from his birth home? To many things not adding up. I think that our character was responsible for his daughter death. As he pushed her or something that this represent happend. Neighbour crazy after loss of everything kidnapped the boy. We ran away to our house and it destroyed him cause police arrested him for kidnapping us. The crazy house is a representation of our feelings about it when we were trying to escape. He was not responsible for the house state but our mind made it into a maze. The story is about trauma that kidnapping and losing your relatives does to people.

Is it not a possibility that the protagonist is the missing boy? That the roller coaster is a way that he relives his regret at hurting his sister? That would also explain why the neighbor appears so large to the protagonist. It’s a very traditional way for a victim of domestic abuse to observe their abuser.

I think saying the neighbour isn’t a bad man is a bit of a stretch. I mean, he still kidnaped a kid and trapped them in a basement. Sure he did it to protect his son but that really doesn’t excuse it. He’s still pretty awful, just a bit sympathetic.
