What kind of looper were you using on that or were you just double tracking the recording and layering the rhythm chords on top of the lead notes that you played in the beginning? Good underrated album there's one in every crowd almost as good as no reason to cry everybody forgets those two sandwiched in between Ocean boulevard and slow hand I don't.

Many people don't know the song is about him re-discovering heroin - his "old friend"... First verse is about metting his old friend, the "unique" flower, the opium poppy (which they make herion from) Second verse is about meeting his "old friend" the city heroin dealer, he needs to park somewhere and walk to him in the dark street Third verse is about meeting the final "old friend", the old man with the face you can't quite place, but then you realise who he is... Death
