i also love how it is so informal. like he jumps down and says: "hello, how are ya." very casually like they are friends. ("wie gehts denn so?" is not something you would normally say in a formal setting because it implies the informal form of "you") don't know if the notion of inappropriateness came across in the other languages, since I only know English German and Spanish but I really like this translation.

@@dervish108 I am not too sure my self but when you say it in persian with the Pronounciation "Aghaye kenobi" (Mr.kenobi) sound much more fluent than "zheneral kenobi" And also I believe saying Mr.kenobi makes it easier for people who don't know how well these 2 enemies know eachother understand that they are in some way close to each other

There are also Indonesian, Malay, and Tagalog dubs of the six Star Wars films as well (not sure if the sequels are dubbed because I don't like those.) xD I have "A New Hope" in Indonesian, 1-6 in Malay, and "Empire Strikes Back" in Tagalog. Also, the prequels and original trilogy got new Brazilian Portuguese dubs in 2015. These were only shown on TV though.

DAMN, I wish I knew earlier :( I thought only the 9th movie had dubs in Indonesian & Malay... I knew about the Brazilian case though, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I gave up. For now I'm not collecting the dubs of the original trilogy, nor the other prequels. However, I'll let you know if I need your help any time soon! I'm not gonna remake the multilanguages I've already published, but I'm working on a new one now (from the 3rd movie: ROTS), so if you helped me with the Malay dub (or even just the fragment I need, your choice) I'd be _really really_ delighted :')

I love the Quebec French one because Obi-Wan literally says: “I hope I’m not interrupting” and Grievous says “Vous n’avez pas froid aux yeux” which is an expression and literally translates to “you’re pretty daring/bold”. I love how the Quebec translators thought of that when even the French ones didn’t

As a native speaker, "konnichiwa, minna." sounds too stiff and unnatural. "You, shokun." is something you would normally say to a group of fellow trusted people, but in this case, it's done ironically in order to sound condescending. Perfect translation.

Doesn't really matter how it's translated elsewhere (though it's wrong there, too... probably). It should be actually translated as "No co tam?", or at the very least "Witam!", because that's what it means in that context. And I never met anyone who would say it like in the translation. It would be badass if they used "Siemka!", but I guess Disney has some unfunny rules on translations. Still, could be worse - they could run that whole script through Google Translate. Not that it never ever happened...

Interesting that in the Cantonese and Mandarin versions, they say slightly different words even though their written language is the same. (I can understand both) In Cantonese, Grievous says sarcastically "You really are brave" and in Mandarin he says "You really got excessive guts".

@@voidseeker4394 I believe it's less about Hungarian being very unique, and more about most European languages having the same roots. Europe can be summed up as a mixture of Germanic and Romance languages, with varying influence on each other (e.g. English is a Germanic language with a very heavily Romance based vocabulary). Hungarian just happened to come from very far in Asia, and happened to keep most of its integrity through the ages (not all, though).

@@diokles that's true, about a year ago I downloaded ROTS in Uloz To and I downloaded it in Czech and then I found out that I also have it in other languages and I found out by tapping the button in the controller called languages (I never didn't notice that the button was there) and when I noticed it, I tapped on it extremely quickly and it was also in English and Slovak, so I was extremely happy ( I'm Slovak, so I apologize for the mistakes)

Mexican here. it is funny to see how both spanish dubbings have way different wordings. Here is a sort of transcription: SPAIN: "how's it going?", "General Kenobi... you are very daring. DEATH TO HIM!" (referring to Obi in formal second person way) LATAM: "Hello to everyone", "General Kenobi... it is true that you are really brave. KILL HIM!" (referring to Obi in neutral third person way)
