Looks easy and fun. Was riding city bus and a poor woman had no mitts. Was going to give her mine but I needed them. Will be prepared next time. Will always try to have a couple in a bag and will make smaller ones for children too. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

I'm getting ready to sew this pattern. Thank you for the free pattern. It printed out perfectly at 100%. Instead of putting the fleece on the outside, I'm lining them with fleece because the outside will be felted wool, so we'll see if the fleece has to be smaller. It should be easy to make that adjustment by just sewing wider seams if needed. I'm going to make the fleece lining first and leave a 2 inch opening along one side for turning right side out. That way, I can avoid the hand stitching. The bottom of the mitten will be sewn all the way around, and then the mitten can be turned through the side opening. The hole can be top stitched by machine. The seam won't show on the inside.

I just made a pair! I'm not very experienced and parts were fiddly, but they turned out great! I hate hand sewing so after the double turn I closed the gap by topstitching around the opening. Also, after cutting the main fabric, I trimmed the pattern a little bit (by just 3mm or so) all around, and then cut the lining fabric, so as to avoid bulkyness inside the mitten. Thanks so much for the pattern and the tutorial!

I made these mittens today. Since I cut the lining the same size as the outer pieces as directed, the lining was tough going in and was bunchy. I was skeptical when I saw the video but I had scrap fleece and did a mock up pair. If you are making size large, cut your liner in the medium. Use the small to line the medium and you’ll have to adjust the liner size for the small.

Nice to know that worked out great! Thanks for sharing that with us, Bridget. I'm sure you'll get an awful lot of wear out of these mittens.

You have the easiest mitten pattern to follow. I noticed that when you showed how to put the width of the pattern on the stretch, you actually, put the pattern the other direction which was putting the wrist to the fingers horizontally on the stretch, when your pattern indicates on it to put the width of the mitten on the stretch; which is how it should be done.

Oh wow, that is such a great compliment. Thank you so much for sharing that with us! I hope it becomes your new favorite! You definitely have a sharp eye. The width of the pattern needs to be put on the stretch as indicated on the pattern

@@HelloSewing Because of your pattern, I have made a number of designer lined mittens and given to the school for students for the winter months. They were greatly appreciated. I made sherpa and soft flowered lined mittens for myself. I will continue to make mittens for those in need and make various sizes. Mittens are the highest in demand during the winter months. Thanks to you I have a lot of fun making them!

Why are the seams for the fur on the same side? I am thinking if the fur sides were sewn together the seam would be hidden between the fleece and fur lining and be more comfortable. Am I misunderstanding? I already cut the pattern out and am ready to sew!
