I think the reason the entire episode was changed, rather than just spot fixed was the fact that this storyboard I believe had actually been completely leaked, and they said it was fake and just redid the episode mainly

@@endgamer7896 like 7 minutes of Ep 12 including a full music number was apart of the same leak and a voice line + shot from the leak is in the trailer so if they didn't scrap and remake Ep 12 which was a way bigger leak, they def didn't rework Ghostf**kers because of it. IIRC the original leak had it listed as ep 8 instead of 10 so its possible they scrapped it because they changed the season's structure itself. Which would make sense because Ep 8 in the actual season is Full Moon and Blitz uses the grimoire in the scrapped episode.

I’m honestly glad that this storyboard got scrapped (No, the episode wasn’t changed due to the leaks. Season 2 was written years ago.) Not only does Rolando seem like a less threatening villain in the scrapped version, it also did a disservice to Millie’s character. In the final cut, Rolando was threatening because of how he was able to mess with his victims’ minds. In this version, he was just spewing bullshit at the IMP crew which made him less of a threat. As for Millie, she would never even consider offing herself. Especially not because she’s “not good enough for Moxxie”. She’s so much more than Moxxie’s wife and I’m really glad they gave Millie her own backstory and struggles with internalized classism in the final cut. It gave her character depth outside of Moxxie which is what we’ve all been asking for. And again, these storyboards were not scrapped because they were leaked. Season 2 was not only written years in advance but also took years to animate as well. They also had the book in this version which tells us that this was an earlier draft of the story where Blitzø didn’t get the crystal. Anyways, I much prefer the final version and it might be one of my favorite episodes yet. Apologies for the essay, I just had a lot to say.

It is honestly better that it was scrapped. Look, HB isn't any stranger from overly dramatic episodes, but making an episode where the antagonist tries to trick the characters into taking their own life is a bit too far, and honestly not what Helluva Boss is.

@tobsonasanya4765 Or, at the very least, it's best it was scrapped, because I thought the relationship drama between Millie and Moxxie was pretty dumb, and this would have just added fuel to the fire. Also, I find it sorta insulting that if it weren't for Blitz, Millie would have jumped, thinking she has failed as Moxxie's wife, even if in S2E3, Moxxie was not going to let Millie be taken away from him at all, not even over his dead body.

@tobsonasanya4765 Yes, but that also makes me hate it more. Unhappy Campers in the worst HB episode, due to its character assasination of Moxxie and forced relationship drama. So, continuing this shitty plotline would have been a mistake.

I think the new version is better overall. Even so, i wish there was a scene where someone uses Barbie's story in order to torment Blitzø like Ronaldo did. I really liked the art direction of this part. Still, i'm glad they cut the M&M drama because Millie's story and conflict in the new episode is way better than the scrapped version

I think I'm content with saying I ultimately like the new direction. The old episode treaded the same ground with Blitzø we've already seen throughout the season, the new version gave us a little more backstory with a couple of shots of Buckzo. I think it also did Millie a better service by focusing on her class and how her rage issues have impacted her hire-ability, and the imposter syndrome she feels getting to love well at IMP, rather than her role being tied down to being Moxxie's wife. The ending is also preferred, instead of the conclusion being "yeah everyone hates Blitzø, moving on", it's "Millie considers Blitzø her best friend and he finally has a platonic relationship." I think the only thing lost was that choreography on Loona, but the rest I think was a good shift.

in my opinion, the scrapped one is more interesting than what we got. however in both versions millie isn't written very well. i wish her entire character didn't revolve around moxxie and blitz. pretty disappointing. regardless thanks for sharing

I disagree. In the new one she's shown to be someone with imposter syndrome who doesn't believe her species deserves what she's been given, she's shown to be someone who class matters to moreso than either Blitzø or Moxxie, likely because she was raised directly in Wrath with a bunch of "hicks", and her anger issues which we've seen multiple times in the series are implied to be the reason she couldn't work as an assassin. "Reputation is everything" going along with the line "At least your sister doesn't have a neighborhood headcount" in Harvest Moon. We actually get significantly more about her in the new version, that her anger issues impact her job status, and that her class and original home impact how she and others view her, as opposed to the original where she was tied down to Moxxie and was told "you should die because you're not useful to your husband".

The re-do is better for a few reasons: While less brutal, it delved into the characters insecurities in a less obvious ane more impactful way. I feel like him spweing everything he said in thw orignial wouldve made everything too obvious and would break the show dont tell rule. I think we got ultimately the better version

Cause after seeing what happened in Unhappy Campers, that depressed the living shit out of me. I do have my take of Ghostfuckers be more like the old draft but with some changes. I like how the whole imp team is in the old draft, i may add in IMP using weapons that used a special metal known for killing ghosts in order to allow the soul to finally go to the afterlife (i have my headcanon that ghosts are people who've died but never went to heaven nor hell. The metal itself being losley based off the angelic steel and I got the aspect of killing ghosts so the soul finally rests in peace from another indie animated series, The dark harvest)

that was one hell of a final boss fight, however, how did he put millie and moxxie in that position? why would loona even be in this scene? they don't have stolas grimoire anymore, so maybe loona could know a few spells without it? it is one hell of a fight, but the complete lack of sense in many ways would've ruined it, to explain all of those questions vizie would need to create at least two more episodes, in the end the new version was the better ddecision, i wonder where will the story go from now

Honestly, the scrapped one is much more interesting, but it seems like in the scrapped version, the fight between Stolas and Blitz may have not happened because he was holding the book, meanwhile in the final one Stolas broke the contract and gave him an asmodeus crystal.

I don't think these are different versions. My hypothesis is that the "scrapped" storyboards are for the next upcoming episode 11 Mastermind. Since Blitzø is seen to be using Stolas's book to teleport.

Plus, the background looks vastly different from the hotel. I doubt a 1 star hotel would have that well of a design. Millie and Moxxie are tied to a chandelier in a large open room. So this might be some kind of mansion.

This is so cool I still prefer the one we got thought While i don't think a vilain trying to push our main characters to kill themselves is too dark for Helluva, I just don't buy that Moxxie would kill himself because of Blitz's opinion of him and that Millie would do it because she thinks she isn't good enough for Mox. The version we have where her insecurity is based on the fact that she is an imp is way better than if it was tied to Mox. Pretty much everything Rolando is saying here is already implied in the show, His rant about Barb was so good, just imagine if at this point of the show we would still have yet to meet her... But he is saying way too much especially about Blitz (show don't tell) and everything he says here is what's implied in the cinema scene we have instead now Wich is way better i think The only moment i wish they kept his Rolando trying to push Blitz to kill himself. While I'm convince Mox and Mill wouldn't, Blitz on the other hand is a whole other story and is something i would totally see him think is a solution, i wish they bring these thoughts Blitz have in an other way at somepoint. Also while i prefer the version we have because of the story, the fight in this one is way better. I love the shot where Luna enters the room. Nothing more to say about that one it's just really cool. This fight scene makes me wonder what the rest of the episode was suppose to be. Moxxie and Luna are there, Blitz still has the grimoire and just how did they end up like this ? Anyway some really interesting stuff. Edit: Correcting mistakes i've notice.
