Helly Hansen LIFA Merino Wool Base Layers - First Impressions

In this video I take a first look at Helly Hansen's LIFA Merino Wool Base Layers. I offer up my first impression on comfort, sizing, and feel. I'll be testing these outdoors soon, in the meantime I hope this first look will give you a bit of information about them.

If this is your first time joining me, welcome to Aeetos Outdoors! This channel was born during the Corona Virus and was a reason for me to leave the house, get outdoors and explore. The focus of the channel is backpacking, camping, hiking, bushcraft, gear, and whatever else I get up to. I usually wear thick 'grandma made' itchy wool socks during winter and they keep feet warm even in -30C whole day and night long,as that itch actually increases the blood circulation ,and I use the same bottoms,but have my briefs underneath or for warmer weather then that plush inside/elastine out bttms and have a long sleeve top too

This is the first set of proper base layers I’ve ever bought. I tend to get pretty hot when hiking so lean towards less clothing. Normally I have sport socks, hiking pants, maybe a wicking t shirt then a hiking shirt and that will do me. Rain jacket for the weather and that’s it. I’m looking forward to seeing how I do with these!

I’m glad you enjoyed it Hannah! I have the next video on the back burner as I haven’t managed to take them out into the wild just yet. Hopefully we will get a cold couple weeks here and I’ll try to get out and get some footage and see how they hold up. ****Secret note - they make amazing pyjamas!****

From my understanding it would then be a goog idea to wear a synthetic base layer plus a merino layer as a thermo layer on top ?

That would absolutely work too. The beauty of these is that they are a mix of material, roughly 50/50 synthetic and merino. So they wick the sweat and keep you warm. Double whammy!

This video is stupidly long winded, I quit at the 4:30 mark.. dude get to the point and edit your clips to cut down clutter and run-on sections

It’s all good bud. The challenge I have is capturing the B roll. Plus I don’t tend to scrip my videos, I get my main points like materials/stats etc and jot them down, then it’s camera on and start talking. Hopefully some of what comes out is useful!

@@AeetosOutdoors a simple way to cut down clutter in your videos is simply cutting out clips.. jump cuts are fine as long as your still on the same subject.. you tend to have a slow cadence when speaking, so this will particularly help the sections that run on. Your overall content is good and very detailed, you can also try using "chapters" with sections to help break up your reviews that way each section can have a good structure, your points will sound clearer and you won't get lost mixing between explanations and examples etc...
