The history of Jon butcher aka John butcher axis. He is/was a truly gifted guitarist/singer. But he never seemed to get the Recognition he deserves. I kinda hoped he was going to be the next Jimi Hendrix!!! He and Stevie Ray Vaughn kinda burst onto the seen and just missed hitting the big time!! I was always a bit disappointed but at the same time the music I did hear from really was top notch.

Saw Helmet in 92 for the Meantime tour. Hands down the best live show I’ve ever experienced. One super cool thing about helmet that I’ve noticed is how many kids are listening to them nowadays. I went to a local punk venue recently and one of the bands covered In The Meantime and the place went absolutely nuts!! Brought a tear to my eye.

I also saw them in Nashville in 1992. They were incredible. I had to hold up Page's microphone stand which kept getting knocked over as the venue was small and the stage ground level. Before they played I recognized their drummer at the merch stand as I had seen him in photos. As I got closer I realized I had known him from high school and we talked a bit. Called him in NY a couple times. It was wild! See other comment below for details.

"Unsung" was the first song I ever played with a band live on stage (bass & lead vocals). We added it to our set because it was blowing up at the time and "seemed" easy (lololol!). We practiced it together only a couple of times and something seemed off. Night before the show, we all stayed the night at one of the guitarist's (parents')house and did a practice/party session. While Under The Influence, I figured out what was wrong: "GUYS! STOP, STOP! WE GOTTA TUNE DOWN!!!" Much, much better! Not that it helped us all that much lol!😅🤣

Frosty had an incredible resume he’d recorded and toured with Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, Delbert McClinton, Sweathog, Lee Michaels and so many others it’s been said a short stint with the Band of Gypsy’s too .
