that would actually be really interesting! I imagine a lot of it came from looting/foraging, but surely a lord/knight would have provided in some way for his men at arms!

In the comment I said something along the lines of wanting to see a biography video of you when you tell some stories and what you've done/where you've been in life, the life of Kevin Hicks - archer and soldier! We were living in Tewkesbury, when we saw you at Warwick. My wife swore the house was haunted because of the battlefield there from the war of the roses.

I had the pleasure of visiting England in the late 1980's and it was one of the best times of my life. Experiencing the sites and history that, up to that point, I could only read about. I truly appreciate these videos, sir. They make me feel like I'm back there. I am hopefull that I can revisit that beautiful country and its history that I find so fascinating.

Its nice to know that some people actually think of their lice’s comfort. They suffer so much and no one seems to care. Everyone loves the puppies and the kittens but the lice larva are completely ignored!

I'm 100% going to use the patron saint of bowmen as the god for my new bow wielding character in Dungeon & Dragons. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a leather cap later on, but my sheepskin should hold up.... hopefully. P.S: Love the videos! Very informative and fun!

I always use Zephyros, the Greek God of Wind. Wind can make or break an archers battles, always good to have him on your side.

Friend of mine showed some interest in England's history, and I'm definitely recommending this one channel to him. I don't know if it's the detailed information, the practical demonstrations with the helmets, weapons, tools and figurines, or the incredibly charismatic host (lookin' at you, Kevin), but this is probably my favorite History channel on youtube.

Love how you have all these items AND period appropriate clothing and how your presentations are so lively, and NOT dry as dust. "Keeping my lice nice and warm". . . . . oh my sainted aunt! The Kettle hat became the basis for the Brodie Helmet used by British and American troops in both World Wars (the US phasing it out around 1942 in favor of the iconic M1) while the Sallet was the Basis for the German Stalhelm.

@@thehistorysquad I can’t wait. You see I used to be a reenactment enthusiast. I was involved in the Revolutionary war reenactment scene and American Civil War. However I have always wanted to get a full English Archer kit, 100% historically accurate. Now that I have a general idea on where to start I am going to research even more and begin the journey

I worked at Warwick castle around 2000 while at uni, really enjoyed it. Got to see re-enactments for free, I remember a particularly good fireworks display one year.

I read somewhere that caps and helmets were sometimes stuffed with rags or straw for additional protection

Thanks for uploading another informative & entertaining video. When you presented the "Monmouth cap" I found that especially interesting as I am a resident of Monmouth County, New Jersey. I am sure a historian such as yourself wouldn't need to ponder long on what revolutionary war battle the county is named after. Just south of the County of Middlesex :) great video i absolutely love these archer videos and it would be cool to see how they made their own arrows

The archer we saw at Warwick castle used an almost horizontal bow position probably due to the short- moderate distance to the target across the moat. From memory he had chainmail on his head.

Extremely interesting subject and very well done as always. I saw your one on The Troubles I had a lot of friends from Ireland. Several were from Derry and Belfast, it was heartbreaking to hear about it second hand. I can't imagine what it was like to be there you were very fair in your telling of your account.
