I am grateful for your experiences as sons of single mothers. I think they both did an incredible job. I am a single mother and feel guilty every single day for not being enough and that my son's father and I couldn't make it. I facilitate their time together because I know how important a father is in a child's life and I don't want to make our problems his. I came from an abusive relationship, I don't bad mouth my son's father to him. From your conversation the onus still seems to be overwhelmingly on the single mother, who may be emotionally, physically and financially exhausted, and not enough on father responsibility and the onus on community to reach out and embrace parents struggling on their own with no support

We were very sorry to hear of the death of your husband, friend. We’d love to put an arm around you, but we don’t feel a note like this is adequate to express the depth of our desire to help. As such, we invite you to speak with one of our compassionate Christian counselors at no cost to you. You may call weekdays from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (MT) at 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459). When you get in touch, a Family Help Center staff member will take your contact information and arrange for a counselor to return your call just as soon as. Meanwhile, be assured of our prayers for you and your boys, asking the Lord to touch you with His healing hand whenever you hurt. May the God of all comfort be your strength as you lean upon Him, trusting in His wisdom and mercy.

One point I make is to ask them how their day at work and school went,I must make a habit of leaving them little notes reminding them that I love them. I remind the younger one but not the older one. I really need to do more in the areas I'm lacking in. It's a hard job parenting. Only by God's grace.

I loved this. I am daughter but I have seen and felt the effects of my dad's absences in my two brothers' lives. Thankfully, my mom is really doing her best, even while my dad passed away two years ago. Thank you for this.

I am a single mom of a son of 4 years. my husband just abandoned me and our son and moved in with another woman and even forgot our son completely. He stopped communicating with us. and it was heart breaking because our son was used to speaking with his father on phone and every time he would want to talk to his Dad, he was not always available to speak with him on phone, the Dad would say he is busy and would promise to call back and does not. So this discussion is so educative to me.

Thank you for this. It is wonderful to see grown men raised by single Moms showing support for other single Moms through their work. When you said prayer is also a powerful tool, I can't agree more.

Thank you so much for this program. The information is very helpful. I found some of it opening my eyes to my daughter how she developed a toughness & doesn't trust anyone. Even though her dad died, it now makes sense because of the "broken promises". The method is different but the result is the same.

I am a single mom of a two and a half year old. I try so hard to keep my son’s father involved in his life and present. But he will only come by once a week or every ten days for an hour and so and not be very present with our son. And only comes after I keep sending messages that his son would like to see him. Sometimes I think it might be easier if my son’s father just wasn’t around at all. Because since he sees him sometimes, my son gets anxiety every time he hears a motorcycle driving by, thinking it is his father, running to the front gate shouting papi papi. I need advise. How do I handle this. I just want my son to be happy and not stressed. It makes me so sad to see a child who’s only 2 already experiencing anxiety it shouldn’t be that way
