Help for the Hotel Quarantine | GoFundMe

New Brunswick campaigned to convince Canadians to move into the province. People sold their homes, invested in moving, bought houses sight unseen, planned new small businesses and prepared for a fresh start. Then on April 24, the provincial government announced a baffling mandatory hotel quarantine. For newcomers who have already put the wheels in motion this amounts to a $2800 expense.
This is unfair.
The goal of this fundraiser is to cover one night of the hotel stay for twenty newcomers. If we surpass that goal every penny raised will go to cover the hotel costs of newcomers to NB who finalized their plans to move before April 24. But in the meantime folks are out of pocket and deserve a real welcome to the province.

It is rough in Toronto to afford anything. That milestone of buying a home is so difficult if you did not buy 10 years ago.

I'm from NB originally and almost bought something recently but too many issues plus the cost of having to stay in a hotel. Hoping to move back someday but with all the changes and uncertainty, may not be able to move back 😞

Yeah our government is going overboard! If you have animals, which I am sure you can buy for cheaper than 200$/day 😉😉 you can be exempt from this rule. Really hope you can move here because it is a nice province to live in. About this neurological illness, most people think it is caused by the stuff they spray in our forests.

This is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. They might blow this opportunity to attract dynamic, ambitious people to the province.

I completely agree. This could seriously deter people. And the NB gov't spent so much on that marketing campaign, only to shoot themselves in the foot.

It sucks,were not coming out there now.morr because of CJD brain disease showing up more,plus can't afford to quarantine

Quarantine is why I am trying to buy site unseen. I don't want to, but I can't sit in a hotel with my children.

So, are you saying that you only need to quarantine in a hotel if you “don’t” have a home purchased? I’m getting mixed results on the topic. I’m going to sell here, buy a house (as you say - site unseen). Can I quarantine in the house for 2 weeks? That would make more sense, to me, to do that. Being “completely” isolated from others. Rather than going to a hotel, where there are other people.

So, I’m a little confused. I have my house up for sale. I’m looking to buy a house there. Are you saying that everyone has to quarantine in a hotel? Can I not go directly to the new house, move in and quarantine at the house? If so, how does it work for the movers? Are they required to quarantine?

At one point (because the cases were pretty high), the NB government was asking all new comers to isolate in these government sanctioned hotels. Since the video was filmed, the gov't actually started changing the rules (again). Now, you're supposed to register your "coming into the province", and should be allowed to just isolate at home.
