My system was installed in 1990 and no problems till this yr when 1 station wouldn't turn off. Checked multiple videos and yours had the answer. All that was wrong was the solenoid was not tight. Snugged it up and problem solved. No other video I looked at recommended checking it first like u did. Thank you so very much.

It worked and was so easy to repair. It makes sense because the circuit (backyard) was fine until I made a repair to a leak in the front yard! 🙏🏻

Taylor thank you so much for helping out from an upset situation! A guy came to open my irrigation system and left with money and one zone watering running and told me it will stop in 20 minutes. It never stopped. I called him and he said your water system is broken and there is nothing he can do. And he will charge more if he comes back. I started to go to KZbin and found your video! Thank you so much!

This video probably just saved me a ton of money. My sprinkler was fine last year and the only thing that changed was when I had a guy blow our sprinklers out for the winter. He had gone in a little green box in the ground which had all of our valves to do something and he put the cover back on fast forward to today and no matter what are sprinklers will not shut off and the front yard even though other zones were running and artbox said off. On one of the main valves I turned it to the right and tightened it up a little bit and every single problem wasremedied right away. Who would have thought it was so easy. Thank you for posting this video!

Glad I found this video lol. Looked outside at 9am to a flooded backyard and the sprinklers turned on and couldn't get them to turn off. Spent 2 hours outside getting soaked in my PJs trying to figure it out. Thankfully a turn of the valve got it. But first I had to battle the biggest Black Widows I have ever seen when I lifted the cover to where the water valves are. Though when turning the little air screw thingie a bit the water just keeps coming out of it and not sure if it's supposed to stop or what.

As a professional irrigation contractor in Illinois i wouldn't recommend having irrigation valves exposed above the ground as here in Illinois it freezes up and if you don't do your system shutdowns it might crack the valve and i would highly recommend hunter industries pgv valves as they are more reliable and more high quality

I had a sprinkler zone that would not go off even if the system was turned off. If the system had water pressure that zone would run continuously. It would even run while other zones were running. I could not locate the valve for that zone. I think it got buried under sod when the yard was re-sodded. So, I turned off the water pressure at the screw on the top of each sprinkler head on that zone. It fixed the problem. My theory is that by closing water flow at the sprinkler head may have built up just enough pressure in the zone to clear the sand or rocks that may have got into the valve and were interfering with the diaphragm. This is worth a try and requires no digging.

After a pipe broke and it was fixed, this was the issue - air or debris in the valve. After checking the lottle air pressure valve knob and the top of the valve to make sure it‘s snug, I was able to manually turn off the valve and water. Before I would turn it manually off but the water would still run. Thank you!

Sounds like the valve control wiring isn't quite right. I'll do a video on that soon, but in the meantime make sure each valve is connected to the common ( white ) and also each valve has a wire going to one of the colored wires. If that doesn't help you may need to replace the valves... or at least the diaphragm. Sorry for the slow response. Hope this helps.

Just ran into this today. Valve was stuck on. Turned off main supply, sprinklers stopped. Turned on main supply and valve was still on. Adjusted external bleed until it turned off. Put external bleed back and valve remained off. Turned on valve from controller and it again wouldn't turn off. I have to assume the solenoid will no longer close the valve. The friggen solenoid for an Irritrol valve is half the cost of an entire Rain Bird valve. FFS. New valve it is! What I don't get though is why wasn't the valve staying off after turning off and on the main supply? Shouldn't that have reset the valve the same as the external bleed screw (not the internal bleed screw)?

Hi i have the opposite issue. I have a rainbird esp-tm2 system, about 2 years old (new house). sprinkler have always worked fine until today. Using the rainbird app, I turn 1 zone manual watering, for 5 minutes. Sprinklers don't come on right away. On the app, it goes from "irrigation active" to "irrigation off" and I see the sprinklers come on for about 5-10 seconds then turns off. I've tried on multiple zones with the same result. I've done some searching but can't find much on this specific problem. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

I just moved to greenville sc, and am wondering how to winterize or simply shut down my Hunter x core underground lawn sprinkler . I have a BIB valve in the garage and also a water controller at the edge of the yard. I was thinking that all I need to do is cut of the BIB valve in the garage. OR do I need to also cut off the water supply at the yard? Also is there a need to run any of the zones in the yard ( I have 6 zones on .30 acre) Thank you for any details.

I have a similar issue. The only way I can shut off the water is either shutting off the main water supply or unplugging the sprinkler controller from the wall outlet. What exactly could be my issue

@sprinklerboss6 жыл бұрын
There comes point where it is better to just rebuild or replace the valve. If the screw won't turn you can try shutting the main water supply off and then try turning the screw, as a last effort sometimes this will allow you to open older valves.

I put a new complete double manifold in (orbit). When I turned water on both values automatically went on. This was the problem before I put the new system on as well? Any Ideas, could it be electrical?
@sprinklerboss4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably not electronic issue. Unfortunately orbit is notorious for failure. I would check inside the valve, make sure no debris is lodged inside. Also as crazy as it sounds make sure it’s installed correctly (facing the correct direction) I’ve put them in backwards on occasion myself. Also make sure the solenoid is snug. That’s about all it could be.

You've just uncovered a grey area! These vales should have a derby filter. Some designers would put in a filter of some kind that's easily accessible. Just saying.
