June 14, 2024, edit: It’s been four years, and Im just gunna spell it out, especially since the new meta these days is to make as many kids “famous” as possible as quickly as possible. This song warns of what this industry is and what it can do to a person. It's not the “fault of fans.” It’s not 100% “being famous sucks”. man this song means so much to me. i remember watching adam when i was younger, and i was OBSESSED with "im something else". i came back to listen to that song, and found this gem that i somehow managed to just pass over when i was little. i kid you not, this song because my #1 listened to song of ALL TIME on Spotify, in a matter of one week. i would listen to this song for countless hours a week, mostly to cope with what i was going through. walking through the school hallways, riding on the bus, car rides, i always had my headphones on and this song was ALWAYS PLAYING. when i discovered this song i was at my absolute lowest ever. i was on thin ice of genuinely taking my life. im only 14. but fuck, highschool is so stressful for me, even more because i struggle with ADHD. I started eating less, basically starving myself. i started pushing so many people away from me because i just couldn't socialize anymore. i felt inhumane, being dragged around and out of control of my own life. but this song.. this song helped me so much bro. i think that i would be dead right now, if i didn't discover this.. art. safe to say, im doing better now. im so much better. these past couple months have been a bumpy ride for me. but its getting better. im so happy i lived, i survived.. this song will always be a reminder that i can push through, im strong enough to push through, i can do this. thank you adam. you genuinely have no idea how much this song has impacted my life, and im sure countless others can feel the same. thank you. edit: 6 months later. i turn 15 a week from today. im still going through some rough times, but overall ive been getting better. slowly, but im getting better. some days i feel more upset than other days, but that's expected with healing, it takes time. ❤️‍🩹 ive had so many experiences, some good and some worse, ive met new people along the way, dropped some nasty people, and figured out what i want to do with myself. i realized that i dont want to take my life, and im happy ive come far enough to realize that. ill forever be a bit embarrassed that this song was my #1 on my Spotify wrapped, but it'll forever hold the memory of the times ive been through. edit #2, today is September 29th 2024 and its coming up on 2 years since i posted this comment. im turning 16 in less than 3 months, ive picked up myself, got in an amazing healthy relationship, im really focusing hard in school now and tomorrow im going to the gym for the first time in my life. honestly right now i was just sitting in my bed, reminiscing on random stuff from the past, and this comment popped in my mind randomly. and just thinking about it, im growing up so much faster than i anticipated, i remember when i was just a freshman listening to this song and now im getting a job and getting my permit soon. and i can definitely say that my life has gotten a lot better, and im happy i stayed in this life to experience everything it has to offer. im not gonna sit here and talk much about the past year, this comment is already long enough. but its just crazy, and a little scary, seeing how much ive changed and grew up since i originally posted this. maybe ill check back in with this video in another year, but until then, thank you again adam, you'll have a significant spot in my whole childhood

The song "help" and the song "something else" are so similar yet so different, this song I feel like takes a more serious tone, the point of veiw where the words are just getting to you and you need to get away but you just cant. Where in "something else" it takes a more positive tone. Like you're say "f*ck you! I'm amazing and you cant stop me!!" When this song came out I was a functioning alcoholic that was working as a CNA and I was so miserable. I sent this song to my friends when I was on a bender and they staged an intervention the next day. Things weren't fixed right then and there but early the next year I prioritized my sobriety and I can happily say that I'm 945 days (2y 7m) sober and working at a much better job. The meaning changed so much in that time and it's insane to think back to who I used to be. Thank you, Adam.

So I just rewatched “something else” and the parallels between this song and “something else” are interesting cuz in “something else” he’s telling bullies and haters that he’ll be successful and that he’s going to be successful despite their harassment. In this song, “help oh well”, he now has the fame he’d been talking about in “something else” but now it’s weighing him down almost to the point where it seems like he regrets ever telling anyone he’ll be famous or maybe regrets ever even putting himself out there to be judged by strangers across the world in an effort to be recognized. He realizes fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and regrets using that as leverage against childhood bullies and haters. Idk maybe this is obvious to everyone but I thought it was interesting

Amber Forcade tbh he isn’t wrong. KZbin is brutal because everyone is either asking for a “shoutout” or a “collab” without putting any work in. They think that without using someone else’s hard work to use as a stepping stone, they can never succeed. On the opposite spectrum, people who enjoy the videos can limit creative freedom, due to the fact this is a JOB and if you don’t get enough ad revenue, you might not be able to survive. KZbin is a prime example of Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest. Those who can’t complete... fall. But what do I know anyway, after all I’m just a person. And so is Adam, and so is everyone.

Seeing the comment putting together the meaning of all the scenes and the comment "decoding" what is written on the computer screen makes me want to cry when I think of what Adam is going through. I hope he does get the help he's calling out for. I love how he's being honest about how he feels with being a KZbinr and that he's telling us about the crap he's gone through. You just don't see a lot of KZbinr's and celebrity's talking about the crap they actually deal with. I admire this man for having the guts to post something like this hinting at what he's going through with KZbin on his back all the time. It honestly sucks that KZbin's algorithm is trash too. I know he's had issues with monetization recently and has just recently been able to post videos. He's such a great artist with both animation and music, and no one should have to go through the things he's dealing with. 1:13- 1:35 i was rewatching this and opened my eyes to the fact that he was being swung around by some puppeteer after agreeing to the terms that come with fame. And it just makes me feel bad for him and other KZbinrs, bc they have to come up with their own content with the constant worrying about whether or not other ppl will enjoy it. The audience was also pretty creepy looking, it could represent how some people don't even care about you unless you're entertaining them, and the anxiety that it puts onto him. My theory is that he’s scared of messing up because one bad move and everyone could hate you. I’m not gonna lie this song got me through so much bullying. Gave me a glimmer of hope. Sometimes it’s a little cringe to think about how I would only ever draw myself with demon horns because of this, but it gave me something to be happy about. Forever appreciate this Adam 👍

I know everyone's talking about how deep this song is and how Something else should take a brake cuz he deserves it but, *can we just take a second to appreciate the quality of this animation?* I mean damn. @@vincent596 W- Wow that sounds awful Very awful If this is really troubling or something that can cause stress I recommend seeing a therapist to relief your worries to someone else and when you move out or of you are then don't talk to your family try making friends that don't care about your religion just have friends that can help you through it Hell I have stress right now but I'm working on myself talking to myself helping my self because I want to be a therapist in the future The past is the past if you have scars from the past then try talking to your friends or your therapist And what it sounds for you is that you might suffer from PTSD if the things they put you through actually makes you outburst like this Hey I'm still not good at trying to help people yet but I'm still learning so whatever I talked about can help you then good luck (Edit: also I might've made a few mistakes so please don't get mad if I made those mistakes or if not idk)

We see this video and we think: oh this KZbinr is going through something, I’m gonna help: but sometimes the same people who say that are ignorant to what happens to people who don’t have that social platform. Tru, tho I think u missed the point of the video a little. He’s not saying he’s depressed for no reason. He’s saying that having an extremely large fan base makes it very difficult for him to feel a strong emotional connection with them, and he’s afraid he isn’t as great as they might think he his. I think this makes him feel depressed because he’s not sure how to separate this popular character and himself and that that popular character is the one ppl like, that if they knew him they wouldn’t like him. I know that many ppl suffer from depression, but it’s not about us or our judgements on this issue, it’s just about what he’s going through, how it’s affecting him and his life, and how it’s caused Him to feel depressed.

I loved the original song and when this one started I was surprised that the music was so different. At first, I thought I didn't like it as much, but by the time I was 30 seconds in I realized, "Oh Damn! This is even better than the original! Gosh darn this is amazing!" This song is so incredibly powerful and the animation, of course, only expounds upon it. I love every moment. This is a work of art!
