Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been making lace with that darn thing for many, many many years. And, I have been doing it wrong (no one to teach me back then). After watching your video, learning to get it started, etc. I started making lace faster and better than I ever have. Had to force myself to quit before I used up my "scrap" leather. Hawk.

Ah, that magical moment when the blade bites and the leather starts to spin. Very satisfying. It makes you want to hunt out all your scraps and make them into lace. Too often there are some false starts and bad language at the beginning, but that point where it starts to work is brilliant. I usually cheat at the start and cut myself a tail inside the circle, which I then poke through the gap and off it goes.

I did it...on first try...and I'm just a girl!!! Made lace from medium temper 5oz bison...yay me!!! I luv this tool and find it much easier than the table mount. Thanks for the tutorial video!!!

thank you.. it took me a couple of tries but i got it. tried too soft leather first but changed to a stiffer piece , got it, than switched back and got exactly want i wanted...

will this tool work on rawhide?

Without any preparation, no--the rawhide will break the blade. You can wet the rawhide to make it more pliable and then wait for it to be "just right"--not too dry or wet, but almost dried out, where it's pliable like leather.
