Good questions: a few I would add: what about project beyond your level of expertise? I’ve seen people say I just got my first major project and they want X,Y, and Z and I don’t know that. Take the project and learn on the fly or simply tell them you don’t know how. I remember my first site redesign I messed up the MX records 😂
@JoshHallco6 ай бұрын
@poppingjaz oh I feel ya there. I once changed MX records and lost my clients emails on a Saturday. One of my worst days as a web designer and why I created my cPanel course! The options are: 1) Try to figure it out (usually doesn't end well or costs you TONS of time) 2) Pass on it (sucks to lose the money if you need it) 3) Partner up with someone #3 is one of the main reasons I created Web Designer Pro. We have tons of early-stagers partnering up with Pros who have more experience or a specialization in certain builds. You can always arrange a hands off approach and collect a referral fee if they're open to it OR partner up as a percentage split on the project. Like you do design, copy or whatever you're current good at, then hire someone else to do the rest. Even a 50/50 split with the right partner is worth it for the learning experience and happy client. Hope that helps! Join us in Pro if you want to have the support system you need! joshhall.co/pro

Hey Josh, just a quick question - I resonate with the first question Alexia had, where I feel like I need to do it all. My main focus is on design/development, but how do you sell that? For example, it’s so much easier to sell a site if you could guarantee more traffic if you offered marketing services. But if you don’t, I’m finding it pretty difficult to come up with a no brainer offer especially when so many businesses I’ve reached out to are fine with outdated sites or even a facebook page as their “site”. Is this a matter of being diligent enough to just keep going until you find the right clients, or is there a better way to make a no brainer offer, that still solves problems they have?
@JoshHallco6 ай бұрын
Yep @ryanburryy just sell web design. That'll lead to ALL other avenues of marketing, growth services, etc for clients. Clients automatically assume web designers know about social media, lead generation, email, SEO, marketing, etc so just pick and choose which "growth" services you want to offer and tack it onto web design. But the proven path is to sell websites. All roads lead to web design and all roads can extend from web design. Worked for me and it works for hundreds of my students and members in Pro!

The struggle I have, is that I want to do both web design and web development, but it is hard to be - very - good at both.
@JoshHallco5 ай бұрын
True but I did both and got very far being better at design and "ok" at dev. I would partner up or hire out the aspects that you don't like or aren't well suited for as soon as you have the urge.
