Rachel is an 11 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. She has grown a bunch of pin feathers on her head. Parrots open pin feathers on their body themselves. But, they can use help for opening pin feathers on their head that they cannot reach with their beak.
I run the pin feathers between my fingers to help flake off the sheath to reveal the new feather inside. This can help relieve itching and build a better bond with a pet parrot.

I understand you breed your own ... a skill in its self .we have a breeder and dealer near where I live .hes excellent ive never heard a bad word @ him and such a great guy 👦. I nearly bought a blue and gold off him @ 2yrs ago .I also like militaries and double yellow heads. Fabulous interest but specialised.my father brought a blue front back from Argentina 🇦🇷 many years ago she was @ 80yrs when she died She only liked my 👨‍👩‍👧. My baby conure is about 40 days old and have pin feathers only on his neck, and they look ready so can I remove them with tweezers???

Use training to improve predictability first. When you do repetitive training exercises on a regular basis you become more understandable to the parrot but the bird is also more predictable to you. Then extend the training method over to head scratches strictly as an exercise. And only after success with this can it go smoothly as a casual encounter.

@@Featheryfaith7 Broken blood feathers need to be removed, especially if the feather in question is a large one like a flight or tail feather, as the blood loss can be life threatening. I highly recommend a vet to do this for you.
