I'm a retired Police officer and I was on the dive team and I found 3 murder weapons. 2 in the water and one one the shore. You might think about looking on shore because the one that I found on shore was thought to be in the water. I was a Sgt. Detective and on the boat patrol and dive team. The guy that was charged with murder said he threw the gun in the water but it was on the shore. It didn't make it to the water. You might want to check the shore line just in case. You need to make a grid system maybe 1-2sq meters. Use anchors and floaties to mark out the sections. That way, you know beyond a reasonable doubt that you’ve checked certain areas. Assign certain sections to certain divers including a slight overlap. Then switch three times so that all divers have been over every section. Having three sets of eyes on every section will ensure that that grid section has been thoroughly combed.

Use dry suits when it's that cold!! Dry suits can feel constricting at first, but as soon as you start diving and forget about how tight it is as the neck and wrists, they are amazing!! I LOVE them! So friggin warm 😁

How do you go about searching an area, maybe you don't show it on video but it seems real random. Would it be better to run some sort of rope line across the river and each time you get to the river bank, move the rope up 5 ft or so, so that you work up the river in a more methodical fashion without missing areas?
