I edited "HUD_SUBTITLE_TEXT" in frontend.xml (update>common>data>ui) to displace the subtitles upwards. alignX="C" alignY="B" posX="0.0" posY="-0.08" sizeX="1.1" sizeY="0.20" posY is what moves the subtitles upward. You can skip changing SizeX and SizeY if you do not wish to alter the size of the subtitles.
