A couple suggestions: 1.) Run this plugin, on your buses, inside something that can oversample it (Metaplugin, Element, etc) to avoid aliasing/foldback distortion. 2.) Make every instance different (via dropdown) 3.) Use a vintage style channel strip (SSL, Neve, API, etc.) on every audio track to add harmonics/noise Keep in mind, no shade, anything waves that has 'drive/gain' that you are using for color should be oversampled. The aliasing/foldback distortion CAN add a bunch of nasty frequencies and ruin your mix. Dan Worrall, Paul third, Beau Burchell all have videos on this that cover it in more detail. Good luck!

@@camstanley Some plugins have an option for oversampling, the NLS doesn't though. I personally use Reaper for mixing and you can set oversampling for any plugin there.

just throwing this out there as someone who is learning to let go of obsessing over aliasing....take a plugin with an analyzer (like pro q3 or something), look at your high frequencies and take note of where they peak the highest. then run a sine wave on a new track that peaks at that same level and use a plugin that aliases on it. you'll notice the aliasing is so low that it's inaudible. it only becomes audible if the high end is peaking at like -18dbfs which is SUPER loud due to the nyquist theory. TLDR: you're likely not to have high frequencies that are loud enough to cause audible harmonics that fold back.

@@moxictasculinity First, just like Devvon shows in the video. I try to imagine the actual signal chain in a studio. This is supposed to replicate the gain/unpredictability of channels on a console, so gain would be the first thing on those channels. That being said, if you are already using channel strip plugins with harmonic distortion baked into the gain, I would recommend using this on your buses to help make things a bit more cohesive.

Another thing confusing about waves is exactly when to use the mono or stereo version of plugins on tracks & busses. Its kinda common sense but definitely not all the time for newbies.

From what I know, it depends on the source that your applying the plugin on. Vocals are usually mono so you would use a mono plug in. If you’re not sure if something is mono or stereo, you can visually see if there’s is one wave or 2….2 obviously meaning stereo. Busses are a different story but I usually go stereo when putting plug ins on a bus. I could be wrong tho…… hope this helps

This guy recording this video already said in a previous video that he uses hardware. But will not tell his subscribers about his hardware in future videos or show them how to use hardware. But he will recommend a plug-in emulating hardware when he said he uses actual hardware for mastering. A scam to keep selling plug-ins for the company. It’s all about the money now. If he shows you how to use the hardware, you’ll use hardware and be done with the plug-ins for mastering, but then he will not be able to get money by pitching the plug-ins to you as they continue to come out.
