Absolutely amazing! So the advice here is to read the box Before installing! Who would've known? In particular , they do NOT work with an old type of Magnetic Ballast, just the newer electronic ones. Non experienced people, like myself, need to watch multiple videos on here and learn the basics, like not trying these in a light with a magnetic ballast.

Valuable information, thank you! The compatibility of LED's and bulb types working with rapid start, instant start and programmable start ballasts is the information consumers need. Certainly, do some of your own research for compatibility before buying, etc.

I'd recommend bypassing the ballast all together and just run mains into the tombstones. Not only are the magnetic ballasts out of date, they're also power hogs and will end up drawing more current than the actual led replacements.

@@thomasschwarting5108 do you have to remove the entire ballast fro the fixture or can you just keep it in the fixture, just abandoned with no connections?

@@ashez002 i guess i can just keep the ballast abandoned in the fixture. no big deal, and it fills the footprint that is usually empty unless a driver is installed.

I've since replaced the whole fixture with a regular light bulb socket. I just use a led adjustable panel screw in light now. They market them as garage lights but works fine for our kitchen. Doesn't look as nice but it's plenty bright and easier to deal with.

Or better yet, just keep your fluorescent lights instead of converting to LED garbage.
@thomasschwarting5108 Жыл бұрын
The bulbs that are being shown here are the type A LED bulb. Type A's require a ballast to operate. They work on ballasts that are on their last legs. So the type A's are a plug and play, no rewiring necessary BUT (in my opinion) the bulbs are only a TEMPORARY fix. Once the ballast fails, then you'll end up going into the fixture and changing out the ballast (not cheap) OR just rewire the fixture from the get-go and change to either the type B bulb (hot and neutral on one end) OR the type C which is hot on one end nuetral on the other. Personally I like the type B because there's less wire in the fixture. Hot and neutral on one end. The opposite side is now just a holder for the bulb!!
