Helsinki truly does look like a Soviet City.

Finland was never a part of the Soviet union. Never under communism and never an eastern bloc country. Helsinki was established by the Swedish king Gustav Vasa. Helsinki does not look anything like the Soviet cities. Finland was directly a part of Sweden for over 600 years and an autonomous grand duchy of Russia's Empire of tsar 100 years. 1917 Finland declared its independence and has been independent and free ever since.

@@butterflies655 I was just referencing that Helsinki's architecture resembles Russia's. Some of those early twentieth century buildings including those statues resemble the Soviet era.

A German architect Carl Ludvig Engel designed a lot of buildings for Helsinki and St. Petersburg. St.Petersburghas has been said to be the most western style city in Russia. 1917 there was a revolution in Russia and Finland declared its independence and has been independent ever since. Most of the buildings in Helsinki were designed by Finnish architects by Eliel Saarinen, Selim A. Lindquist, Alvar Aalto, Lars Sonck, Ville Revel etc
