Titans can be destroyed, they cannot die; in that particular scene, the princeps was the one who was dying, being killed by the machine spirit of the Titan itself, because she failed to see the ork trap that made the building collapse on it. Grimaldus managed to convince the machine spirit to let the princeps go and so she lived to raise the Titan from the rubble. It's why she says she owes Grimaldus her life.
@informationyes
@informationyes 4 жыл бұрын
@@ExcessCongruence The machine spirit didn't kill her due to the ork trap it was constantly trying to overtake her and drown her in its mindscape as it didn't like being tethered permanently to a precept and its like a constant battle of wills that the princept will eventually lose its also why she fell for the trap as the titans constantly trying to mess with her mind, the building collapse was that extra pressure that weakened her enough for titan to win, also Grimaldus didn't convince the machine spirit of anything more just ordered her back to life as she was duying as like a will power boost because thats what Grimaldus does

"This is how princeps die." "This is unacceptable." "It is the truth!" "Then the truth is unacceptable." I really like that line. It emphasizes the Reclusiarch's dogged determination and is a rational statement despite its irrationality. When goal X is greater than all other goals and fact A makes X impossible, then reject A.

This is how Chaplains must be, they have to convince and inspire those around them to do what seems impossible, what is not acceptable to be possible in the name of the emperor. When a chaplain leads a charge even those guardsmen routing will turn and fight along him. even in the face of death, they shall not fear.

The nature of the Stormbird is that a missile hitting just about anywhere with the level of explosivity as that of an Ork missle will down it or damage enough to mean it cannot maintain altitude, hence, the many Ork missiles, most of which are likely to miss in most cases, only require one to hit

@Votic99 5 жыл бұрын
@@Phobosptt If I recall correctly, she was several centuries old by that point. Most princeps that pilot anything bigger than a warhound have their limbs truncated to allow more nerve endings to mesh with the titan. In addition most titans are several millennia old, the majority can trace their history to the great crusade and heresy, so the machine spirits end up with the emotional imprints from all the princeps before embedded within the machine spirit core and the neural link requires some semblance of fighting with the machine to ensure they follow orders. The book Titanicus describes this pretty well.

This was amazing. The only thing that bugged me was that they left the fallen behind. This is not something they do if they can avoid it, the armor will be taken back to be repaired and gifted to another new battlebrother. Other than that they would mark the site and bury it for later retrival.

"Ambushed along enemy portions of Hell's Highway" They were deep in enemy territory and heavily exposed. Waiting for extraction may not have been much of an option. Carrying a fallen space marine is also not ideal. Even by astartes standards, carrying another marine in full armour is quite the task and the ever present danger of the foe as mentioned above is again not much of an option. Returning to the hive with a fallen brother cradled in their arms would also do quite serious morale damage, guardsman seeing one of the Emperor's own angels of death fallen and slain would be a blow that even the preachers may struggle to counteract.

I absolutely love how you've humanized the emperor's children. 1. Despite the fact that they know that they will die when faced with overwhelming odds or the death of their fellows the guardsmen are absolutely hilarious. "Are you still going on about that reinforcement?" Pure Gold. 2. The sheer will of Princeps Zaha of Storms Herald, keeping a promise of war and fatality to Grimaldus, despite having sacrificed her mind, body and soul "You promised me that you would walk" and low the Titan rose from the ash, standing tall, roaring in defiance towards the heavens... Pure Gold. 3. Grimaldus and co. being shaken that one of their number, Kedel had died despite the fact that they know that they will inevitably die in the service to the Imperium. What's even more beautiful is the interaction between them all, they have lost someone who had been with them for so long, that their absence can be felt even in Part 12, but the fact that Kadel's death affected Grimaldus in saving the Thunderhawk pilot, not wanting to see another brother in arms die a meaningless death... whilst doing it in style. Emperor protects those that are worthy. Lord Boylan I implore you continue the good work.

@@brendonwiperi710 I shall enlighten you. The emperor's children is the name of one of the traitor legions, more specifically the legion led by Fulgrim, the now demon primarch of Slaanesh. If you want to speak of the loyalist space marines in a general sense, it would be better to just say Astartes, or if you really want to keep up the fancy talk, then the emperor's avenging angels works too. Just, you know, don't refer to them by the name of a traitor legion, especially if you want to keep your organs inside your body.

I've only just started to get into 40k in the last few years and I've found that, its the incredible attention to the tiniest details that really resonate within me and drive home the point about how unique and vastly, incomprehensibly more MANLY and inhumanly BADASS warhammer 40k is compared to literally any other fantasy out there. For example, before Grimaldus pulls the Thunderhawk pilot out and saves him, the fact that he is just... unquestioningly immediately ready to sacrifice his life for his brothers, he does this with the same amount of ease as drawing a single breath. Not only this but then the fact that Grimaldus had to literally power down his armor in order to pull him from the cockpit, knowing full well that giving the pilot a direct order to abandon his post would shame and dishonor the pilot beyond belief, and the pilot would likely 100% disobey this order, and Grimaldus understands this and would never do this to one of his brothers, and therefore by disabling his armor, the pilot is now not only going to live, but live with his honor completely intact. Moments like these articulate the fantastically well-done way the authors truly portray astartes as just inconceivably badass gods amongst men that don't place priority on efficiency and survival, but place a much higher priority upon honor, duty, glory, and service to the emperor and their brothers. Another similar moment is when Primus speaks about Kador's death to Nero, and how it is shameful to be slain from behind, capturing the viking-like way in which the Astartes care just as much about dying honorably as well as living honorably.

I love how you show the more human element of the Astartes when they're in the thunderhawk, one's trying to have banter while the other is grieving and wants to be left alone, it's sometimes said that the Astartes can be like machines knowing nothing else but how to fight and kill but there's always the more emotional, human side to them

I think Richard mentioned in one of his chat videos, that it's sort of an intentional progression as the story progresses, from the B&W, slowly building more definition and color towards the finale. In a way, similar to the movie Predator, which if you watch closely, as the movie goes on, the 'heroes' begin as foreground in man-made areas, and as the Yautja takes its toll, the jungle itself comes into the foreground, and they adapt within it until the end when Arnie is essentially covered in mud and dirt. I'm sure there will be some pay=off to the direction its going. I cant remember how the book ends (and ive purposefully not re-read it since this started!), but I imagine it'll have something to do with the ebb and tide of the battle.
