Yeah, I personally dismiss these types of guards in fiore because if you use them as like "a guard to stand in safely at the start of the exchange" i.e instead of iron gate or something, it feels awkward (although it can make your opponent stand there confused).

Yea as static guards they are basically useless. But as dynamic positions they have some merit
