In this View From The Top interview, Shantam Jain, MBA ’24, speaks with Hemant Taneja, Managing Partner and CEO of General Catalyst.
Hemant immigrated to the U.S. from India at a young age and attended college at MIT. In his 23 years at General Catalyst, he became an early investor in companies like Stripe, Snap, Grammarly, Applied Intuition, and many other successful startups. He has been a part of Livongo's founding and scaling story, which ultimately led to the largest digital health acquisition in history when it was acquired by Teledoc for $17.5B.
In this session, Hemant talks about the role of venture capital in the 21st century, and shares his perspectives on responsible innovation, building a new healthcare infrastructure in the U.S., and other topics related to innovations in AI and its adoption more broadly. His opinions are relevant to founders, investors, and operators across industries that are looking to create a lasting impact in the world.
