Hemi Spring Removal/Swap

Here’s a quick video on how to remove Hemi valve springs while heads are OFF ENGINE. A different method is used while heads are on engine, pressure is needed in cylinder chambers for that method.
Valve spring compressors can be found at Moe’s Performance or Snap On.

Happy to help. Glad it made things easier. You can do the spring swap while the heads are on the engine. You just have to remove one spark plug, then get a compression tester kit and fill cylinder with about 75psi and it keeps the valve from dropping out.

AMS racing didn't include a set of retainers with valve springs they sent and now I'm in a pickle trying to find retainers to match

My 6.4 hemi created a ticking sound and all mechanics said it was a lifter failure. When they removed the manifold it was found that one spring was broken and that created the ticking sound.

I have 2 different sized springs and spacers in my stock 5.7 09 1500. The new springs did not come with any locators or spacers. Is the height the same For exhaust and intake valve springs?

Your intake and exhaust springs are different sizes? Do you have the VVT heads? I wonder if you have an early 09 or late 08. VVT springs are all the same size, at least they are in my 17

Seems to be I stucked in previous gen of HEMIs lol. They are mush simlpler wuthout VVT. D shaped exhaust ports confused me a bit.

For the present time I am choosing springs for my engine 6.1. I've seen in comments that you installed PSI springs. But in description from HHP I found that PSI need to be insalled with stock cages. This variations are blowing my mind. The more info I get the more questions I have. Swap upgrade is expensive evil. Especially if you have no practice and nobody to ask about. Gonna be a pioneer. @@yarikcharger3181 the 5.7 doesn’t have cages. The 6.1 do. I believe that if you have locators you may not need them. I’d call HHP and talk with them or if you have a tuner ask them. Yeah it can he a bit hectic, I had a ton of questions too, try and get on a good forum on FB, you should get all the answers you need!

​@@TunedRAMS Nobody in my country has strong experience in upgrades for Hemis. I've read a lot of posts at forums. But thousands of people thousands of minds. Many guys have theit own experience and recipes. I guess the truth somewhere in between. Anyway I guess I will find my own soon or later. Thanks for replies and have fun of your truck.
