This is what I have. Hemifacial. Twitching on the right side of my face. A MRI showed I have a nerve wrapped around an artery in my neck. It twitches almost daily now so if I can't get the sleep I need, less stress and not living in the moment, I may need to see neurologist for botox treatment or possibly surgery. It's bothersome, embarrassing and hard to concentrate when it happens. From my right eye to my entire right side of my face with tension on my neck muscles now it has progressed. I live in Canada. Sir,my mother 43years old she had mild muscle twitchings 2to3 episodes a day on rt side face since 1week. With No h/o pain MRI shows RT AICA abutting cisternal,intra canilicular portion of 7thand8th nerve SCA loop abutting the cisternal portion of trigeminal nerves bileterally. 7th and 8th nerve complexes are normal. Untreated, the Hemifacial spasm may involve the entire half of face and sometimes neck. Eye closure leads to problems in daily activities like reading, writing,cooking, driving and sleep, apart from being a social embarrassment. Depression may also accompany. It is not by itself life threatening ( depending on cause)

Hi. Risk and death are inherent to any surgery. The more important question is what is the disability you are facing with hemifacial spasm? the risks with surgery are minimal, but not opting for surgery/ treatment will leave you with facing your spasm forever.
